This was powerful and heart wrenching. Ty Lee shields herself with denial and all for nothing in the end. I wonder how Azula will react? Sure Ty Lee is a part of her emotional support but Azula never really respected her. Airhead isn't a name that you give to people you think have substance. Most likely, Azula will morn the loss of a value accessory to her life and then move on. Ty Lee is replaceable.

I do wonder what Ty Lee is grasping at. I see some reviewers hypothesizing that she might be tapping into some hidden airbending. That doesn't really fit her though. Perhaps her yearning is merely some now evident truth that she can now finally appreciate. Ang said she had to let go and she certainly has. And now she is free...

This is both painful and powerful. The brutality of evil is often compounded by the enormous mental effort of pretending everything is normal, with empty platitudes (Azula is my friend) and avoidance (I won't think about that). It poisons relationships and psyches, and you've shown that superbly with your knack for depicting psychological states. I liked the suspenseful ending, too, though I'm leaning toward her airbending not manifesting herself, which seems fitting for a world where airbending seems poised to disappear forever.

This is... sadness. :(
