Great work and congrats for reaching the end. You've done a marvellous job of expanding Karl's character and filling him with love, hopes and dreams and fleshed out his relationship with Anders. Theses little glimpses are full of pathos and go along way in shedding light on much of Anders motivations and his early life.

Definitely one of the more interesting chronologies on FF and thanks a lot for writing and posting it.

Ahhh, this chapter was excellent. They've all been good, but this is one of my favorites. So sad and poignant.

The saddest part about this chapter for me is that Karl still believes, even if not all-the-way, that he's locked up because of something he did or didn't do. HE didn't heal well enough, or broke too many rules, or whatever... It's just such a damaging system they've got going, because the truth is it's not his fault at all.

This is really wonderful- I've always thought that Karl was a very interesting character, even though we probably saw him for less than five minutes of the game, and Anders' relationship with Karl is equally as intriguing. Thanks for sharing. :)

Brilliant job writing the uneasiness and restrictiveness and claustrophobia of the Gallows, it made me feel uncomfortable. In not too many words, it's a perfect illustration of how Meredith created the mages discontent by squeezing to tightly.

Another good chapter, for all the words the letter contains, the mood that settles... "W is for Walls," but also Windows, Watching, Waiting, Worry. Wanting.

It's kind of distressing, and resonates with me, because I'm teaching in one of those school buildings that likes to cover up classroom windows to prevent students from becoming "distracted" And I'm like... really? If school prison, you're doing it wrong!

Man, I'm already so sad there's only 26 letters in the alphabet!

This is an awesome chapter. I was actually just thinking about scars in my Hawke/Anders story as a way of expressing acceptance. Well done!

This chapter is SO SAD! There's just something about the daily letter being so full of things you can't have. Rain, running, relationships. Retribution. Revolution. Love it! I think this is one of those chapters where knowing what's coming does actually make it slightly better (redemption. There's another "r" word for you) :)

Okay that got my heart racing this Saturday morning - the raw desperate panic is just crushing. As is the whole concept of this chapter given what we know... :( It bugs me that Karl has to keep resorting to "they won't get rid of a good healer" as a comfort - not that he does it, because obviously it's true and it works, but because it just reinforces the slavery parallels so clearly, again. It has nothing to do with what you want, it's "How valuable are you? Can they use you?" I really do despise the Circle (i'm sure you couldn't tell...)

Damn, can't say I've given Karl much thought before, but this is sweet! I'm thinking I could see him as an interesting character even without Anders now!

At the top of my head I'd say I like B best as a whole (it's one that stuck), but much of this is going to stick in my head for some time I think D

Wonderful chapter. Chillingly prophetic, the pathos, the warmth, the sense of inevitable continues, the tone darkening by degrees. You don't need to know the alphabet to understand where it's going.
