Truly love this story... beautiful final chapter!

Snag1 chapter 31 . 4/3/2016
Delightful crossover, but the icing on the cake is how excruciatingly dead-on, (no pun intended), your Deadwood voices are. Particularly Al and EB. A crying shame that this story hasn't seen more love. Nicely done. Since you have a gaggle of ficlets following this one, might one request a rough reading order for those?
CJMary69 chapter 31 . 5/1/2014
Well...I've just had the pleasure of reading this amazing fic and had to share how great it was with you. I couldn't stop reading it! I've never seen Deadwood and the fact that it was crossed with it, did put me off at first, but I'm pleased I read it! WOW! You pulled the storyline off so frakking well...I loved it!
Laura Mayfair chapter 31 . 11/17/2013
Perfect epilogue. The cabin is so beautifully described. A cabin, privacy, and time. Time to be together without responsibilities that are crushingly heavy. This is what we dream of for our most beloved heroes. They are mythic here and I am so glad that you gave them this ending.

It just seems right.

Thank you for another wonderful adventure. I meant it when I said that I wonder where you'll take me to next? I will happily pack my bags and travel to wherever your fertile imagination wishes to take me. )
Laura Mayfair chapter 30 . 11/17/2013
From tears to laughter here...Al's rationalization of the Adamas strange travels - writers traveling to dangerous and exotic places for inspiration for their craft. Just...oh, the giggles. Whatever suits his purpose. I love watching them all settle into their new home. It's even good to see some happiness for Gaius. I like the image of Six trading her red for blue.
Laura Mayfair chapter 29 . 11/17/2013
Oh, I just love the messages that Bill receives from other members of the fleet. In fact, my review screen is all blurry and this is the second reading and it's still getting to me. Yuri's congratulations is touching, too, as is Bill's sentiment that other groups of settlers find equal understanding.

Beautiful. So, so special.
Laura Mayfair chapter 28 . 11/17/2013
It's so good to have the "gang" together again. Kara and the colonel and their squabbles. Triad being exchanged for faro. And of course, I always enjoy Al's observations about the Adamas.

I like the idea of Lee (Leland!) being able to pursue law here.

Kara and Lee's reunion was a nice surprise and it fit very well for them.
Laura Mayfair chapter 27 . 11/17/2013
I love how Al isn't all that surprised by their return. Also enjoyed that brief moment of tenderness from him when he teasingly offered to take Bill out, if necessary, on her behalf before brushing a few strands of hair from her forehead. Also enjoyed Kara's interaction with him, which was spot-on for her and for him, from the way I've come to know him in your fics.

You had me very worried there for a while.

I adore the symbolism of the falcon that Laura sees and, of course, the naming of their settlement - Falcon's Rest, with the callback to canon and their favorite book. Lovely touches and extremely emotionally affecting.
Laura Mayfair chapter 26 . 11/12/2013
I'm sorry that she went back, although I understand why she did. It's in her nature. Difficult choice though. Very touching conversation here with Cottle. Also, I read it at work so I can't recall which chapter it was in but one of my favorite descriptions in this entire fic was your description of Laura in the lamplight from Bill's POV. It was as beautifully rendered as a painting. Gorgeous writing.
Laura Mayfair chapter 25 . 11/12/2013
Their lovemaking is particularly beautiful here because it's just so raw and there are no walls up. It's honest, passionate, and difficult - which is so indicative of their relationship.

The last line is stunning. "He wished his vision of Mrs. Adama, walking by her husband's side, was equally as clear."
Laura Mayfair chapter 24 . 11/12/2013
I love the irony that Al, here, is in many respects the voice of wisdom. This was an illuminating conversation between him and Laura and I think it gave her some perspective. She IS stubborn though, isn't she?
Laura Mayfair chapter 23 . 11/12/2013
This was an especially powerful chapter. These two sure do know how to hurt one another because they know one another so well. Very true to their dynamic in canon. But they also know how to love one another immeasurably, too, which also shows here. The reality of the cancer hits Laura hard and I was glad to see her thaw toward Bill as she begins to understand what he's going through.
Laura Mayfair chapter 22 . 11/12/2013
Laura is prickly here, which is very in character for her as she's disappointed that Bill deceived her. It's clearly a gut-reaction. Difficult and painful situation for both of them. Sad without ever being melodramatic; pitch-perfect.
Laura Mayfair chapter 21 . 11/12/2013
Loved the interaction between Bill and Sofia. Also, I like the way you ended this chapter. The whole scene had a sense of forward spinning motion and tension. Again, I'm really feeling for Bill here.
Laura Mayfair chapter 20 . 11/12/2013
Al has certainly grown on me. I especially enjoy his thinky thoughts. Wonderful tie in to canon with Laura's red dress. Again, the tension is very much felt here, especially with the idea of a ticking clock of sorts. I was reading this before work this morning and I didn't want to stop.
