Hi there. The ending was perfect. Anyway how that boy killed himself doesn't matter. It gives us a grate idea to know that he had been in a dark place when he did it. You did say that the boy wouldn't let Alan help him. So that already tells us that something was going on. About the birds. Yeah, i have been in a aircraft where there was a bird on the runway and the plain had to come around a few times before landing. The bird wouldn't go away and so they had to make it go away. My fathers car got hit by a bird when he took me back to the bus which would have taken me back to the boarding school for the blind. Took the cars left light out. On the side i was on. Glad i didn't see what Alan saw of what was left of the bird. I only new of it because my father told me. I hope to read more like this. Thanks.

Excellent story! I really enjoyed this. No huge angst other than the realistic worry about the situation. Alan was capable - not overly smart, nor helpless. All the characters were perfect, and the 'code speak' during the rescue in Auckland was well done.
