This is the first tintin fanfic(minus a crossover) that I've read. I think this is brilliant. Haddock's just the sort of friend who doesn't push you to satisfy curiosity and Tintin...well, the boy acts like he's perfectly content with being alone, but you got me thinking and now I have to admit Tintin has to be either a neglected child, or an orphan. I loved it. I'd like to point out that when Haddock suggested a vacation to Portugal, you wrote, 'the book smiled delightedly' instead of 'the boy smiled delightedly.'

Excellent. Its got darker colors to it, which lends itself to richer reading. Balanced, though. No one wants a straight up sob story, but i feel that this exploration of Tintin's background is very reasonable. Very good handle on dialogue. Best Tintin fanfic Ive read, by far, and im glad to see that it didnt include an obnoxious love interest with either a tragedy life or a chip on her shoulder (or heaven forbid some god-awful combination of the two). But on the topic of your writing - again, im reminded of color theory. Do some quick research around local color, adding the complement, and perhaps color value. I feel like you've demonstrated mastery of the written equivalent of that technique (as far as pacing and character development at least) in this fic. Really excellent. Do keep writing.

Excellent! I've just been returning to my old love for the Tintin books, due to the fact that my kids are now getting into them, so I get to read them to the kids. It's a delight to read your thoughtful, mature (in the emotional, not slash-tastic sense!) well-reasoned and caring treatment of Tintin's mysterious background and the friendship of Tintin and Haddock. I would be very glad if the stars are ever aligned properly for you to come back to the ideas you've been working with in this story and develop them further. It's the right thing for Haddock to do, to stop snooping into his friend's past - but now you have piqued our curiosity with the few clues that you revealed in this tale!

It's so touching! I wanted to cry. It's just soooooooo sad. I have never make a thought about his past being that sad :) he just seems so jolly all the time. Poor tintin. I really do hope that hergé didn't actually meant his past to be like this way. If he actually had one in mind and did not publish it...

Yes, the lack of fandom is not good. It's grown considerably though since the film, which is good. This is a wonderful story, I wish there were more as good as yours, you caught the characters perfectly :)
