Gamemakers chapter 1 . 7/5/2014
This was not okay - fantastic, beautifully written, yes - but not okay. I'm not sure if I should be upset at you for writing my favorite character being so sad or congratulating you for doing an absolutely brilliant job at writing hurt/comfort. Placing that emphasis on blue-green was a smart move, as was beginning and ending the story on a Johanna-centric note. One suggestion I have is that you change the summary a bit to better match the tone of the story. I think it sounds more upbeat than this story is. I really enjoyed this! Great job!

I love this. Hauntingly beautiful and incredibly sad
lydiamartins chapter 1 . 9/26/2013
actually, i think that i prefer your ending of the story rather than the epilogue in mockingay since even though it wasn't really in-depth, and it went through all of the storyline details and the small descriptions in here were absolutely flawless additions, making a lot more sense than the original version. the descriptions and characterizations were fleshed out for all of the characters, and there were only a few grammatical errors throughout this overall wonderful piece, so great job with this! [Uncomfortable with her irritation towards me, I stammer to defend myself, but I already know she won't listen. What's done is done. We are expecting company from District Twelve tomorrow morning and our house is only considered nice enough to Mrs. Everdeen, who drastically lowered her tidiness standards after meeting Johanna. Unfortunately, due to her hectic work, she isn't available today to help us prepare and will not be attending tomorrow] those would have to be some of my favorite lines, and i love this!

I had to cry when I was reading this.
M. Cooper Jinks chapter 1 . 6/21/2013
I actually prefer your story to the epilogue of Mockingjay. I love the details you included to wrap up all of the main characters. Most of all I love the idea of Annie and Johanna becoming close after the death of Finnick. It's a friendship you wouldn't necessarily expect based on their personalities, but you made it work. I liked the idea of them being tethered together and Johanna being Annie's anchor. This was brilliant!
Estoma chapter 1 . 3/9/2013
That was quite beautiful, and sad, and a little confusing. But lovely, it really was.

The way you put extra details in brackets like that was quite interesting, and it didn't break up the flow of the story. They made for nice little insights.

There were so many descriptions in there that I loved, particularly the part where you said Katniss' eyes mirrored the clouds and the moon. Wonderful description there!

But so very sad, it's just horrible for Annie to lose her child. That part really did confuse me. It took a while to work it out. Probably because I assumed when she talked about 'Finn' she just meant 'Finnick'. Also, what did her baby die of? I think you needed a bit more explanation and clarification around the baby's death. And so sad, did I mention that?

Now there was some great symbolism there too. I loved the way you talked about people being buoys for each other, and the way in which Annie and Johanna were tethered together. That was clever.

So well done!
Dendroica chapter 1 . 2/22/2013
Just stumbled across this but I really like it. Very nicely done. Katniss is AU or maybe Peeta has rubbed off on her since THG, and I'm sad that Finn dies so young here. But the idea & sentiments & writing are lovely.
MockingjayWithFangs chapter 1 . 12/23/2012
I really liked this, because even though many have already written about Johanna moving with Annie this felt fresh and new. Your characterisation of Johanna and Annie was perfect. I really loved that you added some Haymitch/Hazelle into this. I am impressed by this, it is extremely good, it is going to my favourites, very good job.

Lo-ve-ly.

I love Annie. I love Johanna. So this fic, with the two of them together, depending on each other, was such a delight to read. It was perfectly in character, and I loved the formatting, the different sections and the words in parentheses and everything. I loved Haymitch in this fic as well. Everything is just overall lo-ve-ly! Lovely!
Ellenka chapter 1 . 9/2/2012
Wow, this was VERY impressive. In a very heart-shattering way, of course, but very impressive indeed. I've never seen this permutation of events, and you pulled it off magnificetly. I think the slightly unclear narrative fit Annie's state of mind perfectly, just like the whole not-okay-but-struggling-to-go-on feel. I loved how Katniss understood her, and her relationship with Johanna was pretty much how I always imagines it, regardless of the fate of the baby.

and as always, I loved your quirky, creative and oh-so-beautiful turns of phrase and the use of the sea-related metaphors.
oh, and the paretheses. Especially this: (The sea girl's heart was cast off to crashing currents when the two men who had the same name and smile and hair and eyes never met.)

Seriously, my poor heart needs a breather, lol. Amazing job.

I HATEYOU
Lightfall chapter 1 . 8/16/2012
Okay so first up I want to say I absolutely /love/ the way this is paced/set out. It's brilliant and a little strange, but it's so Annie it's amazing. The characters in this are beautifully in character, it's just wonderful. Nice to see a little bit of REALISTIC non-angsty post-rebellion stuff.
"A lady named Hazelle, Peeta gushes with details of less drinking and more bathing. Ever the mystery, Katniss is annoyed by their affiliation."
Also that part made me squee a little. It's just BRILLIANT okay? Okay.
I can't find anything to critique, honestly, this was brilliant. Verge of tears right now, to be honest.

This was so well written... I envy your style. It was sad and beautiful. I loved reading this.
WholeWheatWaffles chapter 1 . 8/8/2012
Poor Annie. She's suffered so much loss in her life. I love your use of imagery- the shadows on the wall, the storm-clouded eyes, how everyone's staring was too much for Annie - it painted a clear picture of how this may have looked. I love it.
Ninazadzia chapter 1 . 8/5/2012
Oh wow.
This was incredible, man. You succeed in the one area that's always baffled me-stylistic prose. I /hate/ Annie with a capital H (not exactly sure why, but I find her annoying) and you've made her sympathetic and lovely in my eyes. Mad props to you, mad props to this, Johanna was so in character, it was amazing . . . gah. And especially those little bits and pieces where you described District Four, I felt like I was there, man.

10/10. Beautiful.
