I think the Lithuania being tortured part of this is my favorite out of all of the story, and this story is my favorite out of the trilogy.

I just read 'Between Shades of Grey'! Funny story about that - my mom got the book for her book group right when I had just gone on a Baltics obsession and checked out four or five different books about the Baltic states from the library. So I'm in Mom's room talking about how awesome Lithuania [the country, not the character] is and she literally threw 'Between Shades of Grey' at me and said: "If you think Lithuania's cool, you should read this!" So I did. And HOLY CRAP good book.

I can't eve describe my emotions to you right at this moment. I don't think that the word 'sad' does it justice. Should I be crying? I feel like it, but I can't.
It makes me so horrified to think about how long the Baltics had to spend with Russia.
Also, I read 'Between shades of Grey' and I can see why you picture Lithuania in that way. I love that book, and it makes me as sad as this fic.

I did! I enjoyed it very much :) I can see how you've been evolving over the series, and I can't say "I love this" enough.

Your Feliks is different from mine; I think that's also an interesting look. It's also a more common vision, "like, totally" raffish but actually is good friends with Liet and cares for him deeply.

On that note… there's so many things I want to say. But one especially:

Wow. That - and the rest of the trilogy, which I've just sort of downed in one - was amazing. So many moments where my heart just clenched - in actual terror a couple times, and just because oh they do love each other and they're trying so and there's nothing they can do... Also when at the end Lithuania is able to be mature and not-hating at the end? Nearly actual tears.

Also ...uh. The violence. It was also really -direct- and visceral, quite hard to read at points and uh I've read my fair share of scary!Russia. Something about the specificity of it.

I also just love all the little touches and details you've thought up about their characters - Latvia's house, Lithuania drawing (and not wanting to undress in front of the others, and for that reason.. *sad*) And the other characters! Especially how you related them to their actual history, though that made the meeting scene just a little depressing and heartbreaking!

Oh my gosh. Where do I begin?
The thing i loved most about this story was how Lithuania sacrificed himself for the other two. And then when they found out...oh my gosh i almost cried! D,: It was nice to see some other nations stand up for the Baltics. And to have Sealand at the end was the perfect touch. Great story, probably the saddest one I've ever read!

When I read this you would not believe how many feels I got, and being a Latvia role player I was getting emotional at the one part. Im a wimp, I cant help it. Any way great story! (( in the ending I thought you said the book you were reading was 50 shades of gray...))

I loved this whole series and have to say that you are a fantastic author. Aside from things I've already mentioned, I love how you write the friendships so purely, without them becoming yaoi. It's not that I'm anti-gay or anything; just that, in a fandom like Hetalia, you sometimes get swamped with so much yaoi that you can't find any plain old friendship. It's refreshing to find some hurt/comfort that doesn't end in kissing or lemons. Secondly, I absolutley LOVE how much effort you've put into researching these stories. Your author's notes at the end are always great to read because I can see how things in the stories (like Estonia's singing voice and America's comment about Iceland) are based on historical fact. That's one of the great things about Hetalia, in my mind - how real-life events can be translated into plot points or character quirks.

This story, I'll admit, was harder to read than the other two, simply because of the graphicness of Russia's torture. When he forced Latvia's face onto the hot stove, I almost wondered if this should be rated M. (I see you also have a Hetalia multichap, which looks exactly the kind of thing I'd like to read, but the rating and the fact that it stars four of my favorite characters makes me a little wary, seeing as I could barely get through the violence in this.) However, seeing the mutual love between the three Baltics, the other nations' concern for their fates, and the beautiful epilogue made up for this fact.

As for constructive criticism - your characterization of Russia, which I talked about in the last review, was better. Not that it was ever bad before, but you worked in a bit of the childish insanity with the "Let's eat!" bit and Lithuania's comments about that being a rough period in history for him. Frankly, I deeply dislike Russia and would be fine with him being portrayed as an irredeemable monster, but I'm glad you included this, because it's fairer to his character. As for the other characters, they seemed fine to me, except I'm not sure Iceland would be that open about his feelings. I'm relatively new to Hetalia, but from what I've seen, he's pretty reserved. Although I do recall reading something that said he was hot-blooded underneath that, so it could work. And he did need to be the 'hero' character for this piece, which worked well, since he's younger and therefore might not know as much about the Baltics' situation, therefore being more naively idealistic when wanting to help them.

The ending, with Sealand, was perfect. He's another one of my favorites, and his gung-ho attitude was exactly in-character. I felt so bad for him reading the journal, but it's good that he knows what the three of them went through. It's sad, but realistic, that even after all this time, Latvia still has psychological scars. Hopefully, with his friends' help, they will heal.

What else can I say? This was a wonderful trilogy that I'm truly glad to have read. Thank you so much for writing it!

This was totally awesome. You actually had things based on what happened in history. And,it was practically heart-breaking to read about Russia do that to Latvia. Nice job!

Wow, this thing just broke my heart D; It was very well written, but I just felt so bad for the Baltics throughout :C At least it ended happily, right? :)

Anyway, I really enjoyed this little series you wrote! I hope I get to read more from you _
