Reviews for Pretty When You Cry
pronker chapter 1 . 2/8/2013
After a rec by someone on LJ, this gem is wonderfully crafted and honed - gah the ending sentence. And all between, Anakin's trying to fit in into this new physical world and emotional world, just lovely. Padme and her goals, so integral to her personality, combining with Anakin's, make for a powerful love story. The touch of dark at the end frames it well.
Iagus chapter 1 . 7/11/2008
I nearly didn't review, since I thought it would be a bit harsh to make you have an 11th! child to name after me, but then I thought you could just use multiple names on each child. What a beautiful little story! I really enjoyed it, makes a bit of a change from some of your darker stories that I have just been reading.
gaijinmononoke chapter 1 . 1/10/2007
This is probably my favorite one-shot- on or anywhere else.

I first read it years ago, and then lost track of the Star Wars fandom, and thus, this story. But it made such an impression on me that I had to seek it out again for my C2...

Everything about this piece is exquisite- your writing style is like a work of art- but I think I like the ending most of all. It's lovely and sad, and I remembered the feeling it left me with even after I'd forgotten the story itself.
Julia shesbeenlying chapter 1 . 6/26/2005
that was diped in the most beautiful innocence I have ever read. You have me near tears.
A. Windsor chapter 1 . 3/30/2003
that's so cute! awesomely written like the rest of your stuff. Do you expect anything else from your number one fan? This reminded me a lot of Artificial Wings, which got me thinking that that story needs a new chapter! lol. seems recently all you write is M*A*S*H. I guess I shouldn't complain, since my Star Wars writings have been rather abandoned as well. No one seems to like nonPrequel stuff anymore. *sigh* awesome story though! they're very cute together. i see what they have now developing into what they have later.

Phoenix Down chapter 1 . 6/1/2002
Ahhhh~ That was so beautiful! The simple innocences of it captures the true love Anakin held for Padme, even when they first met. I love the way you use words in writing, and in every story you write, I read it with unwavering attention.

So, are you going to name your child after me now? _
Greta chapter 1 . 5/31/2002
"Softly, he said something that might have warned her, that might have told her he couldn't be brushed off, that he loved her with all the fierce passion of a child trapping a butterfly. His love would always be frozen that way."

Yet again, such wonderful imagery. I'm not even a big Padme/Anakin fan, based on my viewing of AOTC, a good percentage of which seemed to me a road trip to Tosche Station to pick up some power converters. But you capture what is both wonderful and dark about Anakin's passion for his angel.

Thanks for writing this.
Shezan chapter 1 . 5/11/2002
Very elegantly written, very clever - I like the foreshadowing of Vader in young Anakin; of Padmé's ultimately unhappy marriage. This is not mushy at all, and the characterizations are spot on. More like this, please!
screamballoon chapter 1 . 5/8/2002
Beautiful story! You've created a realistic balance of childishness and maturity in Anakin, which is very tricky to do, but wonderful to read when it's done well. It helps make the initial attraction between Anakin and Padme much more believable.
pokey chapter 1 . 5/7/2002
I love it, I love how you write. Painfully beautiful. I love how you write them, never stop. So sweet and sad, your just simply wonderful. Very bittersweet.
Amniarix chapter 1 . 5/7/2002
A very enjoyable and enlightening linking story, it gives good emotional context to the love story we know is coming up (but Anakin doesn't really tell the Padme he is going to marry her in the 1st movie does he?). Please dont name your child after me I couldn't have something so mean hanging on my head.
Sunday1 chapter 1 . 5/7/2002
Ahhhh...That was so cute, I love the story.
