I'm actually here because gatheringbones linked me to your fic after SHAMELESSLY addicting me to this game and these characters and their fragile, tense interactions. (I also read your meta, which is the best, without question.) There's a dearth of good fic in this tiny fandom, but yours makes up for it in tremendous quality. You absolutely nailed the characterization, particularly with the dialogue, but even their personal narration. Trip is consumed with thoughts of herself and her past and her emotions, she's introspective and reflective in a way Monkey isn't, and true to form his sections are dominated with his actions and factual observations. It's beautiful and subtle and urgh, just gorgeous. Also, also, how much do I love that their gifts harken back to their experiences together, and the way they've helped each other achieve the ultimate end of coming together? Just perfect.

Lovely story too, I really enjoyed the subtle ways they showed that they missed eachother - with your writing this story didn't need any over-the- top makeout sessions to show their feelings. That was an excellent, sweet little short story. Trip and Monkey are well-realized, and their alternating POVs are solid. I so enjoyed seeing Trip suffer through the boring parts of technology, instead of just the exciting stuff, as well as watching Monkey deal with something as simple as a bike ride going maddeningly wrong.

And I hadn't thought about the enslaved bringing memories of Christmas back with them from Pyramid, so that was a super interesting idea.
