Reviews for The World You Save
Camaraderiee chapter 1 . 12/31/2018
This is great! Thank you!
SunBinamra chapter 1 . 6/26/2015
This is one of the best fics I have every read, from any fandom. I have to agree with ETNRL4L on the brilliance of Six's quote about saving the world. You are a truly gifted writer and I hope you continue to write. Well done!

Loved it!
Beautifully written. Loved the humor and the angst.
I especially loved the parental HOLIX.
ETNRL4L chapter 1 . 3/3/2012
I find myself apologizing for being tardy to your particular parties far too often. This is a situation that I must decidedly correct and apologize for.

Forgive me for the laziness of doing this but I literally had to get out of my bed sick to be able to cut and paste this, so I'm hoping for brownie points for my effort.

This quote: "You can't save the world," Six tells her. "Not everyone's, no matter how hard you try or how smart you are. Everyone lives in their own world, what they've seen, what they know. Seven billion worlds, and every one of them is the most important of all, to the one person living in it. In the end, that's all you can ever save. The bravest and most self-sacrificing hero's altruism is ultimately still the selfish wish for their world to go on, even without them in it."

Is the most profound piece of art in writing I have read in the last two decade.

Forget about the fact that this is exactly what Six would say... This is exactly what we all have inside us. This is quintessential self preservation- if not inherent self-interest personified and you have effortlessly simplified this absurdly abstract concept to a few words in a random fanfiction about a cartoon?

I have expressed my opinion about your awe-inspiring intellect previously, however, you surpassed every preconception I had about you with this one fic, my friend.

As always, your characterization was so poignant that I was much more content reading this than watching any of the episodes.

The way you redact Holiday and Six's relationship is... words fail. They aren't cuddly and you wrote that. They aren't cold or detached and you captured that also by the simple way they held hands as they walked to the jump-jet. You hint at everything and yet paint a more perfect picture than full animation ever could.

I love the humor you managed to infuse with Rex walking into the door then insinuating they were 'getting down to business'? That was brilliantly funny.

I don't know if my humble opinion is worth anything to someone like you. As you said in this fic everyone's own world is the most important to them, right?

Either way, I want you to know that this is the very first fully Generator Rex fic I have ever read and you have made my indoctrination into this fanfiction fandom an indescribably amazing experience.

Thank you so much for sharing your amazing gift with us the readers.

:O)
A phantom chapter 1 . 3/2/2012
First off, let me just state that this story was amazing. Beautiful writing and wonderful portrayal of all the characters. Great job.

I simply love this to bits, how Holiday struggles with the decision and Six's simple narration but deep-as-the-ocean thoughts. Both Six and Holiday are loving, but not overly fluffy. (Which, don't get me wrong, fluff is good in certain fics, but in the atmosphere of this particular one it would probably do more harm than good.) Rex is wonderful, your writing of him is spot on.

Two of my favorites parts (though I won't lie, these were hard to pick from this amazing story) were when Holiday kept looking around for Rex and Six's narration of all the worlds. Whenever I have a secret I am always spooked that the person I am talking about (or the person whom I would least like to hear my secret) will just pop up out of nowhere. And you're (Six's) narration of all the different worlds was beautiful. It really does show a side of the world that is not openly seen a lot of the time, where sometimes one must choose what is best for themselves and not the world. It can be applied to everyone and everything, in all kinds of different situations and I just find that amazing how you put it all into words.

So, to sum this long review short, great story. It was am amazing read.
Lychee Green Tea chapter 1 . 2/24/2012
Amazing! This one little one-shot had so much detail and substance to it. Perfect! My favorite line was the "strategic withdrawal so fast that he backs into the doorframe instead of the doorway." Absolutely hilarious; I love your humor.

I can see this turning into a full blown fic. This has potential for so many conspiracies it's crazy! The ending seemed out of place compared to the rest of the one-shot for me, though. I do believe it could have ended with either Holiday not deleting the data, or at least keeping it somewhere that's completely separated from any network, or with her discovering that someone may have stolen it. There's a lot of possibilities. In any case, I feel that this ended too quickly.

That's not to say that I'm left with a bad impression though, because believe me when I say that I loved this to death. I find Generator Rex to be deceptively deep, considering it's a cartoon that has a goofy teenager as the main character, but there's so much depth to it. This one-shot is exactly how I imagine the show itself. It started off kind of light-hearted, but it turned into something so much more than that within moments. Very nicely done! Thanks for sharing this with us!

Cheers,

mythamagica chapter 1 . 2/23/2012
I just love how you captured the characters so perfectly. It was practically like watching them in the cartoon itself. Good job!
calliopechild chapter 1 . 2/6/2012
Very nicely done! This is a really neat idea, and even better, a plausible one, too; having Rex's nanites be the ones that could serve as the switch for all the others around the world. I loved your take on Six and Holiday; they were both very in character, and I think you nailed them, from dialogue to their decision. The way they so quickly disregard this option seems heartless from the outside, but it's matched by the way Holiday obviously has torn herself up about it, about the balance of Rex against the world. All in all, a very nice fic.
KG chapter 1 . 12/26/2011
Awesome history, really. Best work I've read so far. It was like reading an episode (and a very good one), and the best of it: no OOC wich makes it even better.

I must admit that I was totally nervous while reading just because Holiday wouldn't tell Six what was really happening and I'm glad you surprised me because I got a fool hypothesis of what she wanted to say.

I didn't get exactly what Holiday said but I got the general idea (you did an awesome job with Holiday there), and Six was as stoic as usual, really I'm impressed of your work, Good Job and well done!

Sorry if I made some typos, english is not my first language (maybe that explains too why I didn't get Holiday's technical talk)
Skylark Evanson chapter 1 . 12/22/2011
Wow. Just wow.

Half of what Holiday was saying, I believed. Just using the word "protocol" and like the twenty-some other technical terms you used just had me completely floored. No joke! I was all in, like, "Yes! It'll work! This is awesome!" Felt like a real episode. You have some freaking epic diction. Not many people can use it like that. Best part: I didn't even understand half of it, making it feel even more like the real show! :D

That right there is the main reason I loved this so much. Other reasons:

-Six and Holiday are OFFICIAL.

-It's not overly fluffy.

-Rex is being obnoxious (i.e. "ill-concealed thumbs up")

-Bobo gets mentioned! Huzzah!

-And there's some meaning to it instead of just mindless bleh that people seem to spew out.

A Cesar/Holiday brain switch would actually be pretty damn funny. (Cue the Holiday/BK catfight.) Some part of me had the sudden thought of "Wait, if Holiday and Six are sleeping together, but it's Cesar's brain in Holiday's body..." It was awkward to even think about.

Personally, I feel like I'd save the world rather than saving Rex. I don't know why. I feel incredibly guilty about it, but, then again, I'm not Six and Holiday. I just feel like a universal cure would be better. I feel bad because my brain is wired this way, but that's just my view on it. Good thing is, Holiday and Six have the right idea :)

Amazing fic, seriously. I haven't read anything this good in a while now! Excellent work. Brilliant piece.

I'm a Lover not a Hater chapter 1 . 12/22/2011
This story grips my heart.
Magnusrae chapter 1 . 12/20/2011
Well that was different. I was afraid it would be Rex, and it was. Of course they made the right choice, the only choice, but I really liked the thought process leading up to it. Six's little talk about how they can't save the world, because there are six billion worlds, each important to the person living them, seemed like a really deep and accurate line of thought.

Also liked that Six couldn't imagine that particular death, even though he has dealt so many. Writing from his POV was an interesting choice; I rather liked it because it was different. Holiday's thought process would have been hard to follow, but with Six, no problem. And the plot really could fit into a Generator Rex storyline. So well done!
MacGaulyver chapter 1 . 12/19/2011
Wow, what an interesting conundrum - save Rex or save the world. He really is their boy, isn't he?:-) A thought provoking piece of writing that does Holix and FamRex justice. Thanks for the read:-)
1valleygirl4 chapter 1 . 12/16/2011
