It's a really nice story. I saw someone claiming that you wrote a Mary Sue, but it's best to be critical of the term - really, you could ask ten people on this site what it means, and they'd give you twenty definition, plus about fifty common traits. Which basically amounts to 'badly written OC' anyway, so the point is probably to insert your character into the setting properly (which you did pretty successfully, except for some parts of her backstory) and not to over-idealize her (which, frankly, you kinda did). The OC still managed to be fun to read about, so improving from there wouldn't be so hard.

Anyway, are you SURE you aren't gonna continue it? Because the lack of 'complete' tagging kinda confused me.

It's pretty interesting, and you write perfectly fine. Not many grammar mistakes, moderately interesting battle scenes. It's the characters where I start to wince.

Reiko - well, Reiko's not a total Mary-sue, thank god for that. But she is definitely showing some Sue-ish traits. It's good that you didn't epicly describe her beauty and appearance, but I think it's a bit annoying that she's so strong. Everyone is constantly in awe of her strength and her 'hidden' abilities, which is honestly kind of annoying after a while. Well, it's not as bad as I make it sound out to be Just make sure you try not to emphasize on her hidden skill and how passing the Hunter Exam is so ridiculously easy for her.

Also, training with Ging and Kite? Ouch, ouch, ouch. The whole 'trained by the most amazingful teachers of all time' is very, very Mary Sue-ish. It would have been fine if you had her relation to the Genei Ryodan be the only thing connecting her to the Hunter X Hunter world. No need to immerse her in it so much - it might seem good at first, but it is a ridiculous coincidence that she

1. has personally met the Genei Ryodan and survived it without dying

2. has trained with Gon's father a.k.a the person that Gon has been looking for the entire series

3. is so strong that she's breezing past the Hunter Exam with about as equal skill as Killua, except that she's probably actually going to /pass/ and not lose herself and kill someone.

4. is so strong and /she is still keeping most of her strength hidden./

5. Is making Kurapika fall in love with her (? not one of the biggies, but they way you wrote it is very very awkward)

Yup, just a few minor 'ouch' factors in your story. But the rest is pretty good - you're not going totally Sue with it. I'm actually pretty amazed you can pull it off so well. Reiko isn't taking a character's place (the biggest sign being the one to save the sailor instead of Gon, which you had her help to do but not entirely) or making really really smart deductions that have everyone reeling in awe. :)

I hope you continue this story! I'll be looking forward to improvements in the future.

Haha, pretty good. You're breezing through the first exam! I can relate. After a while, reading the same things over and over get boring. And it's rare that ay good stories get out of the first part as well. . Anyways, keep it up! :D
