Nice story!

Great take on the "arming of Sweets". Enjoyed it. Tonight Dr. Sweets takes lead on the case, first time. Wonder if he will get to draw his weapon? ... new love interest too?...hhm

*grins* I love the fluffy stuff. I also liked the outside perspective. It is always interesting to read the characters from another person's pov. Great story!

Nice ending. I loved that Booth stressed the responsibility that comes with having a gun, deflecting any concern about fear. Their understanding of each other always makes their interactions a pleasure to see.

So, can you share the recipe for the Sweets Sling? (I don't mind girlie drinks on occasion.)

You know this story is almost letting us more into Booth's psyche than Sweets. The things Sweets needs to hear are the things that we never hear Booth talk about but know he must be thinking about. Just what it means, in all aspects, to be the person he is and do the job(s) he does.

Loved the ending. I really enjoyed that the two of them got to talk about the gun and how it would be used in the field. Great story! Thanks for sharing! :)

Thanks for the update! I love how you addressed Sweets' concerns about carrying his gun, and his dialogue with Booth was great too! Having them go out for drinks was a great addition, and the "sweet sling" was a nice touch ;) I look forward to more stories from you! :)

If a total stranger can see the affection, then as soon as Sweets gets a little confidence (and his head out of his a s s,) then he should be able to see it as well. I liked what Booth said to him. He wasn't there to fail Sweets, but to be sure that Sweets could take care of himself and others if the time comes. The fact that Sweets was determined to finish the course even after being his, IMO, was the tip that Booth needed.

Welcome back :) A wonderful chapter, with a great method for letting us see inside and outside our heroes. There is so much to these characters, and you have a true talent for fleshing it all out.

I love how you paralleled the beginning and the end of this chapter, and I can completely picture Sweets thinking that. Sweets' determination to be able to help Booth was great as well, and I love how you explained his dialogue from the episode. I was imagining similar things when I viewed it, but your descriptions were perfect! I can't wait to read more!

I like the thought process Sweets went through here, and I think you did a good job of showing his evolution. Given his background, he most likely never shot firearms as a child or was exposed to them, and that tends to give a person an unrealistic assessment of what they do...almost turning it into a fetish or a totem of power. What I found personally and I have seen in others is that with training, the firearm becomes a natural extension of a person, just like a limb. You don't consciously think of using it, but rely on your training and instincts.

He's not there yet, but I was impressed with his performance on the tactical problem and by him persevering when he was wounded by the ricochet. It will be quite a confidence boost to him when he is told he passed, though he also needs more training and experience if his is going to be doing this on the regular.

Nice idea for a story, getting inside their heads regarding an episode, and you've done an excellent job. You have such a good understanding of what these characters feel for each other. :)

Great chapter. I loved getting Sweets thoughts and motivations for getting a gun. I am glad he has thought about this for awhile before he decided to do it. I am sad though that he thinks he needs to be more useful in order to stay on the team.
