Awwww I love how she gave him the keys back and just asked that he went back home with her because she needs him. It pained me to see Alex speak ill of poor Chris, sometimes her arrogance does get the best of her and she thinks words can't hurt her "imaginary constructs" but they do cut... and I'm glad she saw that. Also glad that Ray spoke up about her behaviour, she needed the shakeup!

PROTECTIVE GENE ALERT, yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaassssssssssssssssss! mah fave Gene! And so good to see Evan again, I always wondered how come we never saw him after s1!

OMG this was amazing! I love the stories that show the various layers to Gene Hunt - that there’s way more to him than the smoking, drinking, tough bastard. He’s lived a hard life and seen some stuff. I loved the bet and that it wasn’t easy on either of them and that Gene was ready to walk away from it for something real with Alex. I just love all your fics! And this one was fantastic!

I read this last week and I wasn't logged in at the time and then forgot to leave a review... I have now remembered and I absolutely loved this story! I enjoyed reading it and I think you have some brilliant ideas.

This story is just as tantalising and infuriating as the series and as the characters themselves. How could Alex do anything so daft as to invite Evan to dinner while Gene is staying with her? Yet we know that Alex would. How could they draw back at the end when they're so close? Yet that's precisely what we know they would do. Beautifully written and very more-ish.

It's over! But... but... where did all Gene's plans go? What did Mrs Lewis do for Gene? This has been such a great story that I hope you don't leave it there. I really enjoyed it and thanks for writing and sharing - I just hope that's not all she wrote.
