I love this not so much for the actual act, but the way you portray the act, all the hints and clues as to where Cloud and Tifa stand in their relationship. It speaks of a love that struggles to bloom, of two participants willing to piece whole, but perhaps one or both of them are too damaged to properly fit with the other. Whole complexities are hidden in simple phrases... "happier times...of feelings that were once unrequited." And the lines about how well known their scarred bodies are to the other. The line where she's sick of waiting, the other where she hopes he'll just walk right past.

Needless to say, the way you portray these two in your works is one of my favourites. Their relationship is not always pretty, or ideal; indeed, we could argue that the sex here was merely an act of physical release (that served as a distraction) as opposed to being a selfless act of romantic love on Cloud's part. It may be an act of love, but not necessarily romantic love (which is so often portrayed as a prerequisite for sex. Blargh!). And perhaps that's the extent of their relationship. They're friends with benefits with an understanding and an unspoken set of terms that has developed over a rough couple of years of being roommates (and tried lovers?), but that's fine with them. Or not. Again, it may not be "picturesque," but it's honest, raw, and so much more interesting than the story book cut outs I often find for these two (in fiction).
