I really enjoyed this. There was so much angst. These two were such lost souls. Edward found joy in his music but inside he was hollow. He had friends who adored him but the one who could fill him with love was missing. Bella sought out love and affection from Jacob, but his selfishness couldn't see past his own need for dominance. Leah was the catalyst that brought them together. And in that first meeting they felt that connection in music. As their friendship grew love blossomed right along with it. I admire Bella for enduring the marriage but finally finding the courage to leave. I'm so glad they allowed themselves to grow together. The journey was rocky but the destination was well worth it.

So deep is the brainwashing. Even in death Jacob is punishing and humiliating Bella through Billy.

I know this story was written awhile ago but at the time, I loved how you Rec'd lighthearted stories to counterbalance the emotions from reading yours. I'm really liking now how this story is evolving.

I'm less than halfway and I've tried to stay with this story because I think you're a good writer. I'm just struggling with the characters. I've read autobiographies of people that suffer from depression. The most stunning part of their stories is how their lives outside of their conditions are a lot like most people. Some have very happy, loving families. As for the abuse, there's no prescription I suppose for what "real" abuse constitutes or what an abuser should be like but Jacob is almost too obvious. I guess if I had to summarize my thoughts about what's bugging me about these characters is the lack of depth? The only exception is maybe Edward and Leah. In fact, a little more insight into their relationship other than over the years they became FWB. Where was she during the depressive period? Joe different is their friendship than the one he has with Bella? What's the connection? How did they come to conclude that they don't have deeper feelings for each other? Oh well, all in time.
