when i was watching the pilot and snow gave 'stiltskin emma's name i was TERRIFIED, especially at the end scene when he was all like "you enjoy your day... emma." my heart froze and all i could think was 'oh crap oh crap, does he remember? he TOTALLY remembers! oh crap!'

& i completely understand james' horror here because snow giving the imp their daughter's name gives him power over emma, and considering his parents' history with 'stiltskin his trepidation makes sense, and he's right. they didn't really get any specifics out of him. they didn't know what the curse would do, when it would happen, NOTHING.

but my heart broke when they fought.

ESPECIALLY when he left. you never walk out on a fight - even i know this!

but considering he went out to speak to a friend, to get someone to help find out what the curse truly is about, i think i'll forgive him this once but i love when he just sort of pauses and realizes the GOOD news that came from that meeting - he learned that they were having a daughter, but i laughed so much when he asked if they could call her mildred instead.

i have an aunt mildred... hahahaha! no joke.

"What do you think, Emma?" James asked after a long while. His wife's passions had given way to exhaustion and he was left contented and watching her sleep as the sounds of morning pervaded the air. He smoothed his hand once more over her belly and whispered, "Are you ready to take on the evil queen?" He was still for a moment, holding his breath. And then he felt it. Another light kick against his palm. James broke into a grin and looked up at the face of his sleeping princess. "I'll take that as a 'yes.'"

i really like this chapter!

obviously its not gonna happen in the show because king george had his "he's NOT my son"-comment in that one episode, though i'm not sure snow has been told the actual story, but i like the idea of her not finding out until AFTER she bites the apple and he wakes her up - it was adorable.

my heart broke a little when he said that he was afraid what he had to tell her would alter her opinion of him, i scoffed in disbelief and i grinned when snow immediately said that it wasn't possible, and i glared at the computer screen when james mentioned how king george threatened to kill his mother. seriously, THAT was the moment that my hatred for king george started. part of me was KINDA hoping that he'd redeem himself eventually, but it hasn't happened yet. and i doubt it ever will.

& i liked snow's guilt as she looked at the ring, how she regretted stealing it from him because she now knows that it belonged to his real mother. even if he was now technically a prince, it didn't matter that he had a room full of jewels - it was his MOTHER'S ring. and charming was totally a mama's boy. we all know it's true, hahaha.

my favourite part though?

"I'm the same man who fell in love with you, Snow," he said, still clasping his mother's ring in his hand. Then he closed his eyes and shook his head, "but I'm no prince."

but of course rushes to reassure him that it doesn't matter because he's HER prince and that's all that matters to her, because i doubt it would have mattered to her if she'd met him when he was a shepherd. and of course she teases him, because it's snow. what else would you expect?

the part where she asked him his real name made me grin like an idiot though, especially when he said that his life began when he met her and he met her as james. seriously, where can i get my own charming? and i LIKED this scenario. apparently we're going to find out what james' real name is in season 2 (can't remember where i saw that to... i think it was an interview) and i really hope i get something like this!

but it doesn't matter what his real name is, because i agree with snow, i prefer charming.

"and don't worry about the little one..." if this had been a brand new chapter, i would be accusing you of adding that just to spite me, as if you were telling me to hurry up and update. *glares* but that's not the case and it breaks my heart regardless.

ouuu, snow and geppetto! i personally love geppetto and even i didn't begrudge him too much when we saw what he did to save his son (seriously, any one would've done the exact same thing) but i love getting a glimpse of the friendship between snow and geppetto.

& i hate the part about james blaming himself for what happened to thomas, going to the mines each day to talk to stiltskin, hoping to get some clue that'll tell him how to pull his dear friend out of limbo! ... the curse really did provide ella/thomas/alexandra/christopher with a small blessing.

but ... "Geppetto was fully aware of the guilt and stress beleaguering the prince. For one thing, Grumpy was a terrible gossip." grumpy is a gossip? *dies laughing!* I LOVE MY LIFE.

geppetto knew just what snow needed to ease her mind, though, if only for one night, and i was grinning like an idiot as he showed her all the items in his woodshop that people had comissioned. the gift between red and granny made me laugh the most, and i seriously swooned when he pointed out the mobile!

though i had a toy carousel that played music and projected mickey, goofy, etc on the wall.

Mhmmm, i was conditioned since birth to love all things disney. lol

but, yeah, i swooned like an idiot and i grinned when she went back to her room and james was up waiting for her. i was a little surprised that he didn't go off searching for her right away. but by the way you described how stricken he was... i'm gonna say he was about 2 seconds from going to find her.

Snow said nothing, for she had not yet found her voice. Instead, she walked right up and embraced him, enveloped in warmth and concern.

A slightly bewildered and still fatigued prince hugged her back instantly, though he still felt something was amiss. After a few moments, he pulled back and instinctively laid his hand over her belly. "Is something wrong?"

She shook her head, covering his hand with her own. "Nothing," she said finally, running her fingers lovingly through his disheveled hair. "I love you."

He blinked, still a bit confused, but smiled. "I um…I love you too." He cupped her face in his hand and held her gaze. "Are you sure you're all right?"

but ahhh, thomas and james! seriously your friendship between the two of them just makes me grin like an idiot whenever they interact! it doesn't matter where they are - in storybrooke or in the mines, i love them. & i love that i'm getting more details about went on in the mines because that scene left me wanting more (well, the whole ella/thomas storyline in the show left me wanting more because they should've been developed more, especially if they were snow and james' friends!)

& to make it all the more better, we have grumpy! and james glaring at grumpy! :)

but i loved this! and i loved the explanation about why the magic ran out at midnight - it made a lot of sense and it had me nodding. it's now cannon in my head, that's why it happened, and i won't believe anyone if they tell me otherwise. i'll just scoff and be like "dude, go read chapter three of Filling in the Blanks." hahaha.

but this was the perfect piece to add to the collection, even without snow, and maybe because she wasn't there? i don't know, but i loved just seeing these characters interact with each other and having snow there probably would've made it seem crowded (though i have faith in you, and you totally would've made it work if you had wanted to write snow in.)

but it was perfect.

okay, so, the first line in this chapter had me cracking up!

i can just picture the look on snow's face as she " practically [sawed] right through the table with her knife and fork as she attacked the roast lamb" and i couldn't stop laughing! seriously, i love the way you write her! your snow (actually, all of your characters) are always so IN character that it's actually amazing. :)

& just when i thought i couldn't love James more! you prove me wrong!

i just love how he is the more rational one, the one that's always trying to get snow to see sense when she's upset and frightened (such as here, when she's been far too harsh on poor ella! i mean, come on, rodmilla is ACTUALLY evil! of course ella made a deal to get away from her, even for a few hours) or when she's beating herself up for something she had no control over (such as in Toll Bridge, when she blamed herself for regina's actions).

he really is the perfect match for her. but where can i get my own charming? huh? *stares you down til you spill*

but, nothing against him, he really is quite clueless. maybe it's because i've seen the show and i know that alexandra is only supposed to be a couple weeks younger than emma, at most, meaning that snow is currently pregnant, but SERIOUSLY. it's obvious that something more is bothering her.

ah, he figured it out, i'll let it slide this once.

but you're breaking my heart! darn it, i came to read this story because i need some james and snow fluff and i'm going through withdrawals because you haven't updated (and maybe, JUST MAYBE, i'm avoiding SFTTR. unlikely, but possible) and broke my heart.

snow finds out she's pregnant and it's all happy and a couple hours later BAM! she finds out some of her dearest friends are up against rumpelstiltskin, fighting to keep their child! :(

that's cold, bestie. that's ice cold.

but *swoons* james to the rescue! and cain made an appearance (i squealed so loud when i read that!) & i just love how he took her out so they could have a moment alone where they were free: where there was no threat looming overhead, no bad news from their friends, it was just THEM! and he got her to tell him again.

Toll Bridge is like my favourite story ever and i can't believe that it never crossed my mind to go read your other story! what the hell is wrong with me! this is completely unacceptable and we're going to fix this right now because i am going to sit here and review EVERY chapter and leave reviews of ridiculous lengths (i'm not avoiding my own story, shut up! stop laughing, seriously, i'm not!)

ahhhhh, ella's wedding. :)

seriously, ella and thomas were so adorable in this episode and my heart broke when thomas was like "our baby?" because his tone ... but i love the fact that this is focussing on James and Snow, showing a light hearted moment between the newly-weds as they celebrate their friends' happiness, and for one moment it's like regina and her stupid threat doesn't exist. the only scenes we're been shown of Snow and James after their wedding were heartbreaking (rumpelstiltskin telling them about the curse, the whole wardrobe fiasco, not to mention the i-dont-want-to-leave-you scene) and its nice to see a happy moment between "i'll destroy your happiness if its the last thing i do" and the curse destroying the nursery. *heartbreaks*

"Well if you won't tell me, I suppose you'll have to find someone else to be charming with this evening."

BAHAHA! i love it when Snow is teasing James! seriously, we need more of this in Toll Bridge! i know that the situation there is a bit different (they're cursed, regina and the council of rogues are being a pain in the a.s.s., then there's all the ella/thomas and belle/adam and gaston and aladdin and jasmine crap that's going on, though i'm sure i missed SOMETHING) but ... they're just so darn cute here! i want more of it! :D

So good. I love Snow and Charming. Quick tip about the students though, the less writing you give them the less it will test your sanity.

I must tell you that I'm enjoying this story immensly! The way you've written Snow and Charming here is awe inspiring...and their passionate love story as you've fleshed it out in these missing moments is simply swoon-worthy! I love it and can't wait for more...please continue soon :)
