This is basically the exact same thing as canon. Merlin being born a girl would have immense changes. She'd be a fundamentally different person, say different things, choose different things, think different things, act different ways and simply be entirely different. Despite that, your changes were minimal, things still happened almost exactly the same way, right down to the dialogue. Not only is reading it boring since I've already watched the show plenty of times, there's no actual reason for me to continue past the first chapter since you've given me nothing to hope for in regards to a female Merlin. You even made her look like a boy, enough that others couldn't tell. Why do authors always make female Merlin characters look so much like a boy that Arthur assumes she is one? Every young witch or sorceress in the show was really beautiful, seems like it would hold true for a female Merlin, no? At the very least you could have stuck with her being a girl and actually made her look like one. Having short hair and a fringe would have been extremely uncommon in that time period, so it's highly unlikely she'd have anything but long hair.

In any case, I don't see the point in making a gender switch if things only play out the same way. Imagine if you were born the opposite gender. Do you think you'd be so similar to who you are? Absolutely not. Not even close. This story lacks ingenuity, and needs so much work to even get readers past the first chapter. Not every reader, of course, just the ones looking for high quality work.

This story is amazing and is honestly one of the best Merlin stories I’ve ever read. I’ve been on a huge fem Merlin kick lately and your story is one of my favorites. I hope you update soon, I love all the changes you’ve made to the story and I can’t wait to see where it goes!

brooooooooo I'm not much of a cryer and I watched the show so I already know whats coming in most chapters but damn if you didn't make me cry anyways

I love your idea of the magic kingdom of Dragorian and with Balinor being a prince and only having Merlin for a child does that mean that technically Merlin is a princess of a destroyed and forgotten kingdom even if her parents weren't married because she and Balinor are the last of their royal line

Please continue, this was so freaking awesome. I thought it was very unique and intriguing, i loved it. I really enjoyed that changes you made, Merlin and Morgana being friends, Mordred, Lancelot etc. Please continue with this wickedly brilliant story and finish it. Merlin being a princess was a surprise, though i loved it
