This is so cute! I love the slow burn and the relationships between the ever independent Haruhi and the seniors. I’ve always low key cringed at how the other hosts were so condescending and controlling, so I really love how the seniors were shown to be conscientious and polite

Very cute, and with much less drama

It’s been a long time since I last read this which is a bit of a shame because it really is quite excellent for a short story. Canon for Ouran High School Host Club required the breaking of the vase, and even though it really wasn’t her fault (or at least not totally her fault) it was necessary there to force Haruhi to join in the craziness that is the Host Club and it left in the me5hod you used here as a nice alternative. Also, I was never happy with the Tamaki pairing and Takashi never received much screen time and I liked the character whenever he interacted with Haruhi. Really, if I was going to complain about something it’d be a combination of how short the story is and the fact that Takashi’s declaration of love comes out of nowhere, and yeah, I know the story focused on Haruhi, thus meaning we didn’t see his feelings growing, but even that ‘problem’ really isn’t because we still saw little things here and there, and since we were seeing the story from Haruhi’s perspective there are some nice touches indicating that she’d probably already be in love if she’d let herself so there’s no fear for the future.

On a note unrelated to this story, one of the things I liked in canon was when Haruhi impressed Kyouya’s father, that plus the scene when Kyouya was on the bed with her really made me want that pairing, then there was a few scene’s with the twins that made me think either of them might make a nice pairing for Haruhi (possibly both of them, just not sure how that would work), even Bossanova (can’t remember his actual name) might’ve been made to work, but the author put her with Tamaki...okay, maybe it works, but it was never the best option.
