Aww what a heartfelt fic :') I enjoyed every word of it. It was absolutely adorable Alfred learned sign language for him, and although Arthur was depressed about his deafness it didn't hold him back from high achievement in school. Alfred was both considerate (taking him to his room when he felt depressed at dinner) and determined to treat him normally (mouthing his words). Good boyfriend, Alfred!

You could have been a little more accurate with the surgery. I find it hard to believe they did both ears at once. It would be nice to divulge into the speech therapy part and how it affected Arthur, but it's just my personal preference to be accurate in fiction (even fanfiction).

It's sweet, adorable, and cute.

Although, being deaf myself (with a cochlear implant...), I have to protest at the use of "disorder" in the story. It's really not. It's just, eh...a disadvantage. It might be classified as a disability but it's not REALLY that either. Your other senses just make up for it. It's how I can always sneak up on my hearing friends. Natural-born assassin... :D

Okay, this was pretty cute, but as a writer of a deaf AU, your treatment of Arthur's hearing loss is really bugging me. You're showing Arthur as treating it like a disability, even though the majority of the Deaf community just perceives it as a different way of viewing. This story, in my opinion, seems to just point out how hard it is to be deaf, and it bugs me.

Not meaning to be mean or anything, but that's just my opinion.

Liked the story, but I can't get connected to it because of all the experience I've had with the dead and disabled. I don't think of the Deaf as any lesser or incapable. Again, not hating, just stating my feelings.
