Very well written. Good grammar and puncuation. You stuck very well to the story line and kept Gaara in character. That is very hard to do. He and Itachi are hard characters to deal with due to their impassive and quiet persona. Itachi is my challenge. Only one author I know of has kept him in good character. Lady Hanaka. You did very well with Gaara. Added to my favorites list.

I would like to think that sasuke actually did like her and had initially given her the brooch for that exact reason, but never really got around to it... well, that's just my theory on the matter
