I've gotten on the justified train very late but I already love the show and these 2! Your story is lovely antidote to someone who just finished season 3!

Glad to see Winona healing and their relationship the stronger for it.

I like that she mourns but is conflicted about it and that Raylan isn't sure how to think or feel. Both responses feel very right for their characters and their situation.

Lots of quick thinking on Raylan's part throughout this chapter. He always has such a soft spot for young girls in trouble.

Relieved to see the new face turn up in Mexico - I thought that might be the case, but wasn't sure. And Trina is such a great friend. Winona's lucky to have found her.

Every time Raylan and Winona start talking about the future, it makes me so sad for them, because I wish I could believe this happy time for them could go on.

I like the underscore of nervousness in Winona when Raylan tells her where he's going, and her determination not to let Raylan see it.

I wouldn't want to get in the way of Raylan's righteous anger - I suspect he's going to walk in somewhere and start shooting someone.

I love the wary affection in Raylan and Helen's conversation - two people who know each other all too well and love each other more than they would ever admit. It comes across beautifully here.

Poor Winona. I like (from a story-telling standpoint) that she's damaged by her parents, though, as a foil to Raylan's own damage. It makes sense that they would understand each other, both coming from a similar place.

Yes. This all rings so true for both of them - Raylan so thoroughly disconnected that he can't fathom why Winona needs to go back, but not so disconnected that he's willing to try going back himself.

I love that his first concern is for the hat!

Well, I could sense this was going to go awry the minute they had to take their shoes off, but it was even more entertaining than I had anticipated. Can't wait to see how Steen is received at the swim meet, and how Raylan chases him down in his sock feet.
