Have I ever mentioned how fitting and ultimately prophetic Grand Cleric Odile's name is? Odile being the second antagonist of Swan Lake, who tries to get the Prince to break his vow of love to Odette at the urging of her father Von Rothbart. It perfectly foreshadows the role This Odile will play in your story, as an antagonist, yet servant to a greater threat. I love it!

Just.. wow. This was a breath taking story, truly. I kept telling myself that this story would have a happy ending, that no one would die or anything and... jeez. I've been crying for a good couple of minutes now.
Oh good lord bless you sir/ma'am for making me so emotional. It's hard to find a story that does that so effectively. Until now I never thought to ship them... not seriously at least. Okay I'm done ranting I'm going to sleep now and probably cry some more

This story is quite beautifully written, I've discovered it a few hours ago and have been devouring it. I shall leave a more extensive review of your work, no doubt singing its praises once I've actually finished it and have a complete picture. However, in this chapter something very jarring caught my eye:

When Zev inquires about Fenris' history you establish that Isabella pursued him, but he did not take her up on her offer. Fair enough, it seems you are going for a very sweet "First time" romance between him and Zev where Fenris slowly learns to trust again. However, then I read on to this...

"(Zevran):"Or perhaps you have no interest in sleeping with another man? Perhaps you prefer women?"

Fenris shuddered at that, so strongly his wine almost slopped out of his glass. "Not women," he said hoarsely. "After Hadriana..." he paused, and just shook his head. "Not women," he said again vehemently.""

No. Just no. Fenris is bisexual, and I am sick enough of the entire fanwank about DA2 companion sexuality - disappearing their sexuality is not okay. Pretending Fenris is purely interested in men - not only that, but actively *repulsed* by women - strikes me just as blatantly wrong as people throwing a hissy fit over the supposed Anders sexuality switch when it turned out he liked more than women.

And if your headcanon for female!Hawke romance is that she is just so special to make him overcome his dislike of women, if neither Fenris nor Isabela are romanced by Hawke, they hook up in the 3rd act. This happens. Relevant companion banter:

Isabela: That night...I can't stop thinking about it.
Fenris: Well, then I'll see you later.
Isabela: That was direct.
Fenris: I thought I'd get straight to the point. Were you expecting flowers or something?
Isabela: Don't be absurd.
Fenris: Then I'll see you tonight.

Using Hadrianna's abuse as a reason for not liking women any longer strikes me as absurd. Wouldn't the same have happened with men for, oh, I don't know...Danarius? And the men Danarius had whored him out to which you had *just* described a few paragraphs earlier?

I'm sorry if this seems very negative, but with the fanwank surrounding it this issue hits hard. And also because it's massively out of character. *coughs*

I really do love the story though, your writing is sublime.

OH MY GODS! I died of laughter at Zevran's ever so very casual and too intimate discussion of sex over lunch! Amazing. So Zev... wow.

I love how you keep the pace slow, even, believable... and show the growth of all characters.

So... I know little of Sebastian as I only just now got the DLC. Your story might well color my playing experience. I am sick at home this week. So no working and no teaching. But I have enjoyed the first 28 chapters overnight. I am excited to see what Fenris' role will become.

This should be a novel sold in stores.

Okay, I would just like to say at this juncture that I think this story is PHENOMENAL. I'm only on chapter 30 and I love the characters, love the plot, love where it seems to be going, and I think that it's a very realistic description of what could happen post-game. I can't wait to find out what happens next!
