This Rly is excellent you know iv never seen anything quite like it and the writing itself is very good and easy to read and get lost in.

Intriguing, though I wonder why Harry can understand Ms. Frener and vice verca.

You know, generally I have no problems with time travel stories. The concept sounds nice, and it's interesting to see how the founders would interact with the modern day characters

But I always find myself disappointed most of the time. And this story is no exception.

See, few people ever do the proper research required when writing a story set in the past.

For some reason, everybody either thinks that English in its present form has been around since before the early middle ages, or that Shakespearean English was the only precursor to modern English.

The truth is that the language spoken in 800AD was so far removed from modern English that you wouldn't be able to comprehend what anyone in that time period was saying! Old English was more similar to Old High German than anything else. Also, in Scotland, people spoke Anglo-Saxon or Gaelic. Then again, England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales did not exist in that time period. Each were divided into a bunch of tiny little kingdoms.

Oh and did I forget to mention the various Brythonic languages along with Latin that was spoken before the Anglo-Saxons invaded?

Bottom line: there is no freaking way that Harry and that woman would be able to understand each other. Forget not knowing what glasses are, she wouldn't even know what "bloody" is or that it is a profanity (if you completely overlook the fact that the word itself didn't exist till the 1800s). As far as she and Harry are both concerned, the other is a foreigner speaking a language neither understands or has heard! She wouldn't know what happened to his parents, or that he lives with his relatives, or that he asked her what the date was. And he wouldn't know that he is in the past or that its December.

In fact the woman herself wouldn't say it was 885 AD. The wording would be markedly different (and in another language)

And speaking of which, look up the Julian calendar. Cause that's what was in use till the 1500s. While December was the name of the last month in that calendar, the days were different.

Finally, around that time, life was considerably harder. So finding a boy covered with bruises isn't that shocking as it would be now. And he would definitely look like he was eight seeing how people were on average smaller than they are now.

Speaking of which, sixteen is considered grown up at that time.
