Oh, gosh, I giggled so much at the first part of this chapter. Jess being momentarily clueless, then embarrassed was so cute - and so like her. And Becker telling her he was in love with her totally made my heart melt... then Matt had me giggling again!

(Honestly, I'm glad there's no one around or I'd be getting some really strange looks!)

Love Jess's concern over him and her giving him an out - that's very like her, too. But the thing I love most is the fact he didn't take it and instead *finally* asked her out *and* kissed her. *happy, happy sigh*

Hee! I know it's a stressful, tense, dangerous, possibly life-threatening situation but my overall reaction to reading this was a gleeful 'Heee!'

Poor Becker. He can't help it. He's just a man - just a man in very very close contact with the woman of his dreams. *snicker* I love his horrified reaction to her discovery, though. The expression I'm imagining on his face is so funny! (And still quite attractive, damn the man!)

I just had a worrying thought. What of the earthquake damaged the structure of the menagerie and loosened the enclosure doors, and what would happen if the creatures got out?

Not sure when they were anymore, bu we've also had two earthquakes in Folkestone! Scary as hell the first one. Also took me a while to work out that it was an earthquake and not my mum shaking my bed to get me up... I didn't even feel the second one though so it can't have been that big.

LOL, I loved the ending. Everything always seems to go wrong for Becker. :P Although seeing as there's a second chapter, I'm guessing things will turn out a LOT better than he thinks.
