This... can't end well, in terms of Vinyl's past. I can already tell that this may end up tragic and depressing, which is awesome. You're definitely off to an interesting start, and don't worry about your writing, it's fine so far, especially for a first story.

You've certainly got an interesting idea and are doing well in keeping the reader interested by making them wonder what could have happened. Don't worry about the whole beginning with flashbacks/the past thing, for an origin story, it's not a bad way to go at all. Having an overall plan is good, and I really think you can pull this off so long as you put the effort in. I'm excited to see what you have planned for Scratch!

Intriguing start. I love stories about minor characters, and it's especially difficult to do one with a blank slate like Vinyl, but you certainly did well with grabbing attention in the prologue. Your descriptions are great, particularly of Vinyl's apartment and her confusion. Working off of uncertainty and memory is a great way to start any story, and putting an internal conflict in so early really sets an interesting tone. Can't wait to see what the ending was all about, and I wish you luck with this one! Congrats on starting your first story! I'll definitely be sure to keep up!
