Agh this is just so good! I'm just hoping that it'll be updated eventually. This is probably the best fanfiction I have ever read. Ever.

Amazing, such a good story! But that cliffhanger killed me... And the last update was like 7 years ago, so the story is definitely dead, such a shame :c

This is amazing and I was happy to read this.

This was an incredible story that delved into the psyche of a monster and it was truly fascinating to see how you portrayed Mercer's inner termoil. Prototype 2 delt a blow far greater than any nuke to Alex's character, but your story proved to be the true successor. I really wish there was a conclusion, but even without one, it was far superior to the entire writing force behind the second game. Thank you for all the time and dedication you poured into this fanfiction. I had a blast reading it from start all the way to it's early conclusion.

I know this is dead and never going to update again, but I’m going around and commenting on my top ten favorite fics, and I’m not leaving this one out, dang it!

Honestly, this story has it all: Mercer sibling fluff (inasmuch as you can get fluffy when one of the parties involved is a man-eating tentacle monster,) high stakes, action scenes, Blackwatch OCs that aren’t utter garbage, Alex grappling with his nature, an ironically prescient personality for Pariah (*frowns at the sequel*) a semi-subtle stab at said sequel...

Oh, and to top it all off, Mercer sibling drama, culminating in a scene where Alex finally gets the chance (and the willpower (okay it was more that he was backed into a corner, but details) to admit to Dana the awful truths he learned after she dropped out of the plot. Seriously, I love this scene and its aftermath, and its one of the ones I come back to reread every now and again.

(Listen, I’m a simple person; you say “Alex and Dana interact” and you already have my attention.)

Sad to see it end on a cliffhanger, but, alas, such are the realities of fanfiction. Seriously, though, thanks for giving us this. It’s been fun :)

This has been what I really wanted for a sequel to Prototype. I also couldn’t believe what the developers had done in the second game, it truly was a betrayal to the fans. Reading this was just awesome! I hope you come back and finish this because that cliffhanger is just brutal. Thank you for such an amazing prototype fic.

Love the fic, & I can see and approve of the implications of how Pariah is forcing Mercer to act as the viral being that he is... even if the Cross or the Wisemen may have their reservations about it.
Totally agree that Mercer being turned into a misinterpreted two bit villain was awful. Haven't seen the comics, but I personally believe that the nuke from Prototype managed to split him into two, our Mercer that we played as having hidden away, while a more viral instinct-based split off is the one we deal with as Heller in 2.
Aside from all that though, this is a really good fic that's been on hiatus for 5 YEARS now. CAN WE PLEASE GET AN UPDATE? The anticipation is killing me here...

OH. MY. GOD. This story has not seen an update in FIVE YEARS. This is unacceptable! I really hope you are doing well and still alive because I really want to see this story have a definite and complete (maybe happy) ending for Alex and everyone involved.

I absolutely agree with you on the sequal and James Heller that Alex did not deserve to be killed off so soon after he was created, especially the way Radical decided to make him into your typical dogmatic villain intent on "unifying" humanity under his rule. Wow, what a twist that is...

Again I am so frustrated that the greatest stories written by unpublished, everyday writers and lovers of their fandoms are rarely if ever finished. But I understand if you have moved on or real life got in the way preventing you from coming back to this project (Which I have to say is as close to a canon sequal as we'll ever get).

I hope you are doing quite well, Laluzi, and please don't abandon your readers! The suspence is overwhelming!

Your thoughts... You and I share this in common to the extreme. I despise Heller for offing Mercer. There was a sequel already built into the Web of Intriuge. One that featured Pariah and how it was voiced that he was the last potential threat in the series. Your story of Mercer VS Pariah, is the most canon story to me I have ever read. You made the true sequel in this story, P2 was nothing more than a money cashing scheme. P2 destroyed the series already fragile reputation after Infamous beat it on which was the best super power game of the year they were released. I could kiss you for the justice you are giving this series. You never gave Mercer any over-the-top abilities, you never changed his personality, and you stuck with his goal of defending Dana and by proxy, New York as well. I had always dreamed of buying the rights to the series and destroying any traces of that abomination of a sequel. I just never had a story, the resources, or the skills to develop the game on my own. Probably never will... But if I had a chance to do any of that, then you would be the first person I would contact to bring Prototype out of the limbo its creators forced it into.

Wow, this is...simply stunning. I have no words to describe the utter joy and entertainment I got from reading this. Seriouly, when alex told cross he didn't save him because he liked him - I immediately thought "it's not like I like you or anything, baka!" And I cracked up at the thought of tsundere alex - which is basically canon anyways. I absolutely love the way you characterize everyone. I love the fact that you raise the suspense in the beginning about keeping dana in the dark about alex's true nature - something a lot of authors tend to gloss over or avoid entirely - and when you eventually deliver the scene, it's well fleshed out, emotionally charged, and so, so raw and beautiful. The arguemnets, the pain, the tears, it keeps it real. And dana's unwavering trust and loyalty towards alex gives me life. I love the fact that you humanize cross and the Wisemen - gives them names, families, stories. It's fascinating. One of my favorite things to explore in fic and in game is how people see alex, and it's always a treat when I find interactions between alex and the military, especially non violent ones. Bc those usually turn out to be hilarious, or intriguing, or both. Your cross and watchmen are fantastic, and I found myself wishing for more of them, especially more of them wondering why he does what he does, because he's a soulless man eating monster, what the fuck - and also more of them begrudgingly becoming accustomed to him, and actually calling him a he, not an it - don't think I didn't catch that, detwiller. Though black seems content to hate alex forever, lol. And I especially love the fact that you give alex and internal struggle with himself, his instincts, the hivemind, and like a thousand other things. His struggle, not just for dana, but for himself, is what makes him feel human, even if he himself is not. I love his relationship with everyone, they're so in character. Especially with dana and cross. And I may just be reaching here, but I was getting the feeling that something more was beginning to bud between cross and alex? Like maybe they were starting to subconsciously develop feelings about each other? It's probably just wishful thinking of a fangirl. Anyhow, I really like how you characterized Greene and pariah. They're terrifying, Op, and ridiculously creepy - the mind control and one, big, happy slave family shit makes perfect sense and is super chilling - and it's perfect for this story. It's definitely the best prototype fic I've read, and we'll deserving of its place at the top of my favorites list. It's a long fic, a lot longer than the norm, a lot longer than I could've hoped - but I still wish it was longer, so that I could still be reading it. I know it's been 4 years, but I hope you read this, and know that you've done a great job, and that you've made me and lot of other readers so, so happy. I will keep this fic alive in my imagination, and if I do end up getting off my metaphorical ass and write prototype fic I had in mind, it will definitely be influenced by you.
