heeeeeem chapter 30 . 8/3 Right, I'm sorry but how on earth does this not have more reviews, favourites and follows. That was probably the best fanfiction I have read. Some how you managed to perfectly balance the number of character arcs you were juggling. Add to that the fact that this took ten years to write, this is just incredible. Wow, just wow. |
Green-Silver-Ravenclaw chapter 6 . 4/5 SHUT THE FRONT DOOR I HATE YOUUUUUUU |
Green-Silver-Ravenclaw chapter 5 . 4/5 if you kill of the Stolls, you have to do then together, we can't have another Fred and George |
shahabbas10 chapter 4 . 12/9/2019 Again, some of the transitions and interactions are rough, and the Thalia story read like an info dump, but again, it was very well written. Great job again. |
Guest chapter 2 . 12/9/2019 Some of the transitions are kind of rough and confusing. Plus, some of the interactions are very brief and should be extended a little bit. Outside of that, it is well written and interesting. I love it! -shahabbas10 |
TheOriginalMaverick chapter 29 . 11/29/2019 Further to my last review wanted to add my thanks for not slipping into fandom cliches like the massively overdone Chaos story/asshole brother etc, and retaining excellent characterisation, which is rare in this fandom (unlike say Harry Potter), which has become rife with OC self insertion. This fic is a prime example of OCs being used only when they are needed, which is the best way to write a fanfic. |
TheOriginalMaverick chapter 30 . 11/28/2019 Loved the fic, huge congrats on finishing it after such a long time, most writers on here would have abandoned it, and really good work on keeping quality throughout. Only real downside is there was no clear pairing for Percy, and I found this searching for Pertemis stories, feel this would have worked really well as a Pertemis, with Percy acting as Artemis' husband and method of recovery following loss of the Huntresses |
I Am Definitely Jeff Bridges chapter 30 . 11/21/2019 Considering I've been reading this since about the time you published chapter 10, I honestly have no idea how I never got round to at least dropping a follow. So, to start off this review: sorry - but remedied now with a favourite, I hope! I think that now it's finished, I'll have to reread the whole fic just to remember how the early chapters went, but based on my foggy memories of those far-off times along with my stronger grasp of the more recent part of the story, here are some thoughts: First off, your grasp of character is incredible. Considering how drastically different the tone of Defiance is to the original PJO series, it's a massive testament to your skill that the characters all feel consistent with the ones we know and love, even as they grow in a different direction in this story. Your Thalia especially (obviously, I guess) is totally majestic, and Kronos in this must rank as one of the greatest villains I've ever read. And having mentioned the tone, what a triumph that is too! I honestly have no idea of the specifics of writing over 200,000 words of characters I love being totally miserable and dying and failing and having their lives run by a monster, and yet keeping it totally, completely and utterly gripping, but along with ideas about that, something else I have a total lack of is doubt that your success in that was in large part down to how well you balanced the disastercatastrophe side of things with the, uh, Defiance. Like, it was brilliant that Thalia called her daughter Elpis, but it didn't feel like you'd made a mistake by putting it in the frikkin' 'Tragedy' category. This is the rambly bit of my review, by the way, but I did warn you I had no idea. And the battle scenes! It's rare enough that they're written clearly, but I really can't remember the last time I read about a full-on war taking place which both was easy to follow and had an emotional impact worth following. It felt like every couple of paragraphs there was some new development or event which paid off something from earlier or which just hooked me more. Before, finally, we reach the end. Man, what an ending. In some ways, it feels like it's one which doesn't quite follow on from the story we've just read, but of course that's because we've been so invested in Thalia's story and living inside her head, which is something that none of the other characters have access to. It also understands that not everything can necessarily end happily, which is a take I really admire (is that condescending? Sorry. I mean it sincerely, though!). Ultimately it's an ending which does fit the story, but isn't necessarily the one that would most satisfy me in terms of giving everyone the super-happy ending I would wish for them. I guess that's my problem rather than yours, though! tl;dr: I love this story so so much, and I really hope you write more soon! |
te amour chapter 30 . 11/8/2019 I will not say much except thank you. In a fandom full of clichés, this was something new, with authenticity and profoundness in concept, character and plot. It’s been a long ride even for me, and I haven’t even been here for this long, so undoubtedly it has been the longest of rides for you...nearly a decade. It’s a brilliant story. Whether you decide to write more or not, I’ll be waiting. |
NightOwl95 chapter 30 . 11/8/2019 Oh my god, I can't believe this story is actually finished! I've only been following this for a couple of years, so I can't even begin to imagine what it must have been like writing it for the past 8. This fic has made me laugh, it's made me cry, it has had me on the edge of my seat. It's been such a whirlwind and I have loved every moment of it. This has always been one of those stories that as soon as I realise it has been updated I stop what I'm doing to read it. It is also one of those stories that I've reread a dozen times, and will no doubt continue to reread. This is, hands down, one of the best fics I have ever read. This is an absolutely massive story and I feel like it really must have taken a lot of time and dedication, and it definitely paid off. The premise is so unique, the plot is amazing and flows really well, and the character development was fantastic. Thank you so much for creating such a wonderful story. |
Thalia.panncakes.seagulls chapter 30 . 11/8/2019 I'm gonna miss This fic so much... Keep up with The good work! |
LordAlces chapter 30 . 11/7/2019 Thank you for finishing the story, it's been a long ride, but an even longer one for you. Thank you. Part of me wishes there was more to the Epilogue, especially the secondary characters, but part of me is satisfied with this ending. Maybe a one-shot for the secondary characters, or an "18 years later" ending. It might be interesting to have a 2 sentence summary for each primary/secondary character on what they ended up doing after the war (Gods?). In the end, it did the story justice and it's one of the stories that has grounded characters, a grounded universe, and has good character progressions. Barely if at all spelling/grammar mistakes. And a rarity, a finished story with over 200k words. It's such a rarity to see a story like this, especially with such mature themes that feel realistic. It's a shame that for the quality of this story, so little people have followed/favourited it. Thank you again for taking the time to write this, I do hope you will write another story, but I'm content if you choose not to. Once again, thank you. Thank you for your dedication, quality, and consistency of writing this over the years. - LordAlces |
LordAlces chapter 29 . 11/7/2019 I just finished reading this story. It's an amazing one that is underrated. It has dark themes, cliches with a slight twist on them, and the plot points make sense. An example is the Big Three's weapons. They were hinted at for so long and then when Kronos barfed them up, it all made sense. Thank you and I hope the epilogue comes soon. It's been a long 3-day journey and I'm glad I've finally arrived near the end. |
Thalia.panncakes.seagulls chapter 29 . 7/6/2019 My heart! It's beating so fast right now I'm having trouble breathing. I just... I don't have words for how I feel right now. This is definetivly something that puts my emotions on a crazy rollercoaster. This chapter was unbelivably good! I can't wait for the epilouge! Too finaly get this story wrapped up is gonna feel very good and very sad. No kidding this is the best fanfiction I've ever read. Turning a book series for kids into something so dark and deep just puts everything in a new light. To be honest, I liked (still likes) this story much better than the original follow up to the pjo series. This is just so full packed with emotions it makes me feel like everything exploded inside of everytime I read a new chapter. And your writing style is something in it's own class. I have never, and I mean never found a story, fanfiction or book, that got me so addicted from the prolouge. The way you write has so much impact on your stories. I have stumbled upon a lot of fanfictions with great plots and ideas, but the writing itself isn't any good so the story kinda gets lost. But your story, your story, everything is perfect( at least in my eyes) from the way you present your characters to the way you put in clues of whats to come, that and everything is perfect in my eyes. This is and will always be the one and only story that will ever find it's place by the roots of my hearts. This story has made me feel complete. In a weird way this story has made me who I am. I take quotes from This story and use them in my every day life. I reinact scenes to get The feeling om actually being present in your story. A story like this is what everyone who wants to write for themselfes should have as a rolemodel. This story really helped me form My writing style and i am so damn grateful for that. So thank You. For writing a story that have tought me so much, everything from dealing with emotinional trauma to improve My writing and grow as a human being. Thank You so much. I know this story isn't completly over yet but I had to get This of My heart. Thank You 3 |
Cat Beats chapter 29 . 7/6/2019 It’s been so long since the beginning, but this has been the best Percy Jackson fanfic I have read to date. I’m really looking forward to the rest. Thanks as always and until next time! |
