Once again you've provided us with an interesting update, I do hope that once Mattie calms down from the stress she'll realize that LaBeouf would not only be a very good husband to her, but that she would be a fine wife, and that they deserve a chance at happiness in spite of her mother's rather childish fit. I would also very much like to see LaBeouf hauling that hotel manager away in cuffs alone with that bounder who so mistreated Mattie's sister.

This is very well done and I look forward to the next chapter, especially after that cliffhanger! Excellent job on this story!

Although I did appreciate the chapter - it ended very abruptly - as if you left half of it out, which is a pity because everything was so well set up until now. I do understand nerves around posting, though I admittedly don't know what you mean by posting in the 20s. Like 2020? Anyway - can't wait for the next update!

I'm hoping that you haven't given up on this story yet! It is definitely one of the best I've read - I don't know how I missed it when you first posted, and I am sorry that I missed it, but I'm happy now that I've found it!

I enjoyed this so much! And I'm all for tweaking things to suit your needs - that's what fanfiction is for sometimes, especially if it makes the story easier. Also, I don't think it's particularly scandalous because Mattie would be almost twenty, which was plenty old enough in the time period...

This is a good story and I'm certainly looking forward to seeing where it leads. On a side note, would I be wrong in concluding that you are either a Texan or have lived in Texas, you seem to have some accurate ideas about it, such as rhyming royal and soil, and the vegetation around Wichita Falls. I have lived in Wichita Falls before, and you're right in saying that the native trees are mostly mesquite, of course there are others, but only along rivers and creeks.
