Great story of firsts. Love the POV of Steve, the confusion of it all. And then Danny in domestic bliss, wanting a tattoo to memorize it all and make a statement to his daughter. Lovely.

I agree. The show missed a chance to delve into the life of a cop with a normal family life. Why is it that all cops in shows have to be dysfunctional unqble to style down or marry people that can't deal with their careers? Loved this story and the idea of baby Joe. Thank you so much for writing this.

Wsll, I think Danny makes a sexy dad, too. I really enjoyed the tone of this story. It felt different. I wish they would portray more "successuf" families on TV. Maybe some out there would recognize themselves, their reality, and not feel so lost. Anyway, it was a little AU that felt very much in character. Thank you!

Thank you for this - you are right that while Danny Angst is very satisfying, there is something very special, very endearing, about a Happy Danny. We saw it a bit before the finale, and I think for me, the great disappointment was how suddenly he was robbed of that joy. The enormity of his loss is so immense that for the writers to gloss over it would be a tragedy. I would rather they have just let Danny's character be happy.

Anyway - great story :)
