Good story
General Cammy chapter 11 . 1/18/2019
enjoyed this
Luiz4200 chapter 7 . 8/20/2015
Asked and answered. Shouldn't the defense object when the prosecutor asked why Sirius would try to kill Pettigrew for the betrayal instead of calling the Ministry and answered it himself instead of giving Sirius a chance to?
gibbsheroic27 chapter 3 . 12/4/2014
This is a great story-which somehow I've never read before! Must admit, I was pretty frustrated with Dumbledore, until that last line "I must admit that I am afraid to"-that just about broke my heart. Doesn't make what happened to Sirius okay, not by a long shot, but it's a start. Beautiful writing.
T. H. Enesley chapter 5 . 7/19/2014
I just found this today. I had one problem with the lead up to the trial. It was Sirius' attorney comment that the case would depend on whether the evidence would be admitted. Granted, British law is a bit more severe than U.S. law but as I understood British common law back in the 80's when I was in law school, the test was admissibility based on probative value to determine the facts of the case with the deference given to the defendant in close calls. Your attorney for Sirius seemed to indicate that admissibility would be determined with the scrutiny the court would apply had their been a proper conviction and the cause was being appealed to an appellate tribunal. That is to say was their a mistake in procedure or prejudice so severe as to make any judicial determination flawed from the onset - a much more difficult burden of proof. Sirius' attorney should be aware of both options and should have been properly informing her client of his options under both options. To do otherwise would open her up to malpractice or at least inadequacy of council. Brits are rather intense on those particular options.
Glaux Bryonia chapter 11 . 5/9/2014
I really like this story. Many people skip the legal proceedings or keep it at a simple questioning under veritaserum. Granted, the latter isn't that illogical as it is a truthserum, but it is nice to see someone put more work into it. And I enjoyed how you changed the way Sirius' innocence was discovered. This is a great story, thank you for writing it.
choices2make chapter 6 . 2/22/2014
I'm not sure how his story has only 36 reviews. It is beautifully written with complex emotions and a gripping storyline. You have me at the edge of my seat.
Brodus chapter 11 . 2/14/2014
This is a truly great story, very well written and had me emotionally invested from the start. I literally devoured every word and really feared for Sirius when he was being threatened with a return to the Ministry's custody, and could really feel the tension during the trial , even when I knew he'd be declared innocent due to the fact that there's now a sequel.

Well deserving of a rare favourite on my part.

Best Regards,
Brodus.

I'm really glad I discovered this story today - it was wonderful. I'm not normally a fan of first person, but this was written so well I can overlook that ;)
On to the sequel...

Also, I have to ask. Ms Novak. Would that, by any chance, be a reference to old Law and Order SVU?
Mr. 16384 chapter 10 . 1/8/2014
A rather enjoyable story - your characterization of Sirus is excellent, and the legal proceedings were done quite well [as far as I can tell, since I'm not versed in law at all].
Guest chapter 10 . 1/3/2014
Wonderful story, well written and totally believable.
Guest chapter 10 . 1/2/2014
very interesting, well done.

sorry that my 'review' sucks
TT chapter 10 . 1/2/2014
i'm disappointed...not once did Sirius apologize to Remus. he may have thought the words but he needed to be man enough to say them
RodeoTown chapter 10 . 9/15/2013
That was a very good story! I usually don't read first person narrative, but I'm very happy I gave your fic a go, I really would've hated to miss out on it. I love the way your portray Sirius after Azkaban, the deep sense of injustice, combined with feeling of guilt and anger. A wonderful read!
EmptySurface chapter 10 . 9/4/2013
This story is amazing. It's so well written, and it's abundantly clear you have a firm grasp on court proceedings and know what you're writing about. Most people here on FF usually tend to write about the wizarding law system as entirely different from the muggle world's. It's refreshing to see that you haven't done that! I love the way you've kept things realistic. Believable.
While I was reading this, I realized that Harry would have started school by the time the trial finished... It makes for a truly fascinating thought as to how the original plot would have played out if it was based on this scenario instead. It's all very interesting. I wonder how Harry would have reacted to being introduced to Sirius this way, and meeting him in his first year. I bet he would have been thrilled.

I commend your writing! Thank you for sharing. :)
