If you ever plan on editing this, another point a lot of people use (EXCUSES!) is heterochromia. They say they know someone with heterochromia, but I did research, and the actual probability is 0.2%. They know someone with heterochromia? Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight...

Okay, well, can I just say that the whole 'providing for your family thing' is kind of realistic, you know, if it's District 12, as they have a very dangerous industry. I can see what you mean about the being whipped every day, as you would definitely be dead, but the fact is that we can't all write fanfictions in Katniss's time, and we do know that the peacekeepers and weren't and won't always be lenient. You can count on the fact that if you steal you will get caught sometime or other and that if you live in a district with strict peacekeepers, you will be whipped. Now, I know what you mean about Mary-Sue's though! I am doing an SYOT, and this is the person's entry for their skills section, and I quote. Coralie is amazing at a lot of things, swimming, hiding and tree climbing are all skills but she is also amazingly intelligent. Oh, and she is amazingly beautiful too. And then, the writer goes on to steal my profile and my twists for the Quarter Quell I was doing. And she writes it crappily. Now that's pretty low, isn't it?

I don't know about everyone else, but I've created tributes of colour before. For the record, it was a District 11 girl who was black and a career from 4 whose ancestry is Inuit and Mexican (and one time where I implied that another tribute of mine from 2 was of Chinese descent).

I don't see a problem with creating a tribute of colour except in one case. This happened in other fandoms I've done fanfic before, but usually whenever there is a Japanese character, they usually have a really stereotypical anime name (like Miyuki Umeboshi or some other cr*p) and have an anime-esque appearance and have a word like "kawaii" as a catch phrase. Even though I am Japanese-American, I hate it when someone creates a character like that. It feels like creating a character of Japanese descent, even if that character is three dimensional and totally not a Sue, will be stigmatized and possibly labelled as one because a bunch of inexperienced "writers" ruined that character background for the rest of us.

Hey, I have a tribute in a story who's POV I'm writing from. Her name is Dace Marchley (I completely made up her first name) and she's fourteen. She has 3 brothers, but when she was 12 she was picked for the games and her sister caile volunteered for her and died. Since Dace has a pretty wild temper (she hit a peacekeeper when she was 5 and went around saying things about the Capitol when she was angry until she was 12; she has considered that the reaping when she was chosen was rigged so she would die) and she is a known 'rebel' district 11 decides to get rid of her - it's the first quarter quell when they had to vote. Of course some people like her such as her friends and family. Dace IS black which is what made me write this- yes I HAVE made a black tribute- her hair is very dark brown and she has dark brown eyes. Dace is compassionate and doesn't like killing but will if she has to. As she is from d11 she has had no training with weapons and she's not too strong but she has good stamina, can run pretty fast but probably isn't the fastest and she is quite clever.

I love your guide. I haven't submitted anything to a SYOT before, but I think it's a great resource for OCs in general :)

I saw the midnight premiere too! Didn't you wanna kill "Peeta" and replace him? Josh Hutcherson can't act, looks ugly, and has no mouth (just a gaping hole). Puh-lease. You know who'd make a good Peeta? James Maslow with blonde hair :P

I loved Caesar. He was the best part if the movie. And his intro cracked me up every time. So freaking epic :D

My favorite part about your guide is how detailed it is. Not many people go into such depth about what to do when submitting to a SYOT.

The next part you could do is preferred death, I think. Some authors put that in as a category on the SYOT form, and heaps of people fill it in as "None: Victor". Which is kinda stupid, cause there's only one victor. But whatever.
