This was really good. But I couldn't help the feeling of disgust when there was an Erza and Natsu moment or reference (I can't even call the ship name). I have immense hatred for that ship. I'd rather read a lisanna and Natsu fix than a Natsu and Erza fic (and that's saying something). But nonetheless, this was lovely.

I have to admit that after Tower of Heaven I was convinced that Natsu and Erza were a thing. so, I can dig it. I also like Lucy paired with just about anyone. she is just one if those characters that can be molded to match any relationship. no blasphemy here.

Oooh! I love this story. It makes perfect sense, and it can actually be taken as inspiration by Mashima. Sadly, he's biased towards his own series and is a NaLu fan as well. He didn't even consider the possibility of other pairings. In my opinion, you write better than him.
