Reviews for A Flight of Fantasy
Anonymousme chapter 1 . 10/7/2019
Oh...my...good...

Did anyone ever tell you that you have a gift for humor?

I'm not going to even start, or else I'll never finish.

Awesomely in character for everyone here and very well written. Also very thought inducing.

Excuse me while I go laugh for the next several hours...
Quihi chapter 1 . 12/29/2016
Wow, this is awesome. The hot air balloon, the fight with pirates, the Archenlanders. This fic just feels like it's part of a much bigger world, with the comments about Susan liking simple bread and butter, and Lune asking "Demolition or infiltration?", and the note from Lune to his sons- it was all wonderful.
JBebe chapter 1 . 10/17/2016
Absolutely loved this. Everything I didn't know I wanted in a Narnia fic.
Glenstorm63 chapter 1 . 8/30/2016
I think if herrings were fresh the pie would be lovely. Here's a rustic Calormene recipe... one I picked up when I was last passing through Azim Balda. The Tavern there also does a mean Quince and Pistachio sweetmeat.
Take several sheets of very fine pastry, liberally coated with the heated ghee taken from the sheep of Western Calormen. Line a baking dish with the pastry sheets. Take several large fillets of herring or better still, estuarine pavender and cut into large chunks. Take several large pieces of preserved honeyed ginger and chop coarsely, sprinkling over the fish and tucking amongst the pieces. Finish with a sprinkling of fine mace and salt from Lake Mezreel, and a handful of chopped parsley. Wrap the spare pastry over the fish and tuck in, again coating with melted ghee. Place a lid on top and bake over coals for about 40 minutes. They served it with sliced fennel and chicory salad and a pomegranate dressing.
Guest chapter 1 . 6/4/2016
I love this. I love everything about this. There is literally nothing I don't love, from some fantastic lady awesomeness to the Twin Terrors of Archenland to King Peter the Thick to poor Edmund with his shoulder out of place. Like, I can't praise this enough!

MCH chapter 1 . 1/7/2013
Very funny much enjoyed and the girls sorted out the pirates and rescued Edmund. Cor and Corin sorted out Peter who finally took his medicine. Plus no herring p
rosebudmelissa chapter 1 . 8/29/2012
This was absolutely wonderful. The premise was wonderful, you created some very engaging OC's, and the dramatic rescue of Ed's ship was made for a perfect climax. Your characterization was, by and large, excellent, although there were a few instances where characters were unusually scornful and sharp-tongued.
WillowDryad chapter 1 . 12/12/2011
Oh, wow! What a HOOT!

And an absolute delight. I can't believe this has only six reviews.

PLEASE write more about Peter and Edmund with the Twin Terrors. That would be divine.

The camel following Peter around would be an extra bonus.
OldFashionedGirl95 chapter 1 . 11/21/2011
I laughed so hard I couldn't breathe. Several times. You are brilliant. For some reason, my absolute favorite line was, "Fishing was a quiet life."
E chapter 1 . 9/8/2011
You have engineers down - you write their focus and way of thinking very well.

I like the aside about having Ed write a law about Lucy determining how the cordial should go to - I understand that Peter's High King, but the cordial was her gift, and she should be able to administer it as she sees fit.

This whole story was absolutely delightful. The fleeing Calormene woman - Aravis~! I love Aravis! - the Twin Terrors - lots of nice, incidental humor. It's a very fun story to read, with little bits of humor sprinkled throughout - Peter and the Camel, Edmund's quirks of character, the Most Devious Queens - but also with depth - new inventions, international intriuge, and Susan and Lucy and Aravis being amazing and inventive and adventurous. Wonderful!
viennacantabile chapter 1 . 9/7/2011
Oh my God. I haven't read Narnia fic in ages but this is so brilliant I'm really happy I clicked the alert. This was fantastic, all around, and spot on in every single characterization. This is exactly the type of hilarious shenanigans that the Pevensies and the Archenlanders got into behind the scenes, down to the Calormene camel and the flying balloon. The banter was perfectly timed, the action so natural and well-suited, and the pace/arc of the whole story was perfect. You knocked every single prompt out of the park, and I thoroughly enjoyed the ride. You're amazing.
Autumnia chapter 1 . 9/7/2011
I must simply thank you for bringing camels into this story because of the massive fic and commentfic it has spawned across LJ. :-)

And I'm sure Peter must have celebrated once the camel and the twins took their leave of him. Now... shall we see more ungulates planting themselves at the High King's feet? How do dim-witted Princesses compete with such creatures?
EpsilonTheta chapter 1 . 9/7/2011
ZOMG, THIS IS AMAZINGLY AWESOMESAUCE! I LOVES! IT HAS MY JAW ACHING WITH LAUGHING SO MUCH!

(Methinks I might be a bit hyper...)

When I saw you mention a camel, I was wondering if you were gonna mention that *evil grin*
rthstewart chapter 1 . 9/7/2011
I ship Peter and the Camel. Her name is Brunhilde. She has long eyelashes. She follows Peter around Cair Paravel and grunts and when he locks himself in the tower, she stands sadly beneath his window and sighs.

A wonderful, wonderful story with all your usual, wonderful worldbuilding and witty dialogue, spot on point of view writing and characterizations. Your voice channels Lewis himself, but with added steampunk. I love your characters and the Guild and the explosions and the lascivious Satyr with the googles. And the twins who are terrors. And though Peter and Edmund are not in it much, their characterizations are wonderful too.
