HermyLuna2 chapter 1 . 8/7/2016 Oh P.S I also wanted to say that the songlyrics and chapter titles really add another layer to the story which is great. |
HermyLuna2 chapter 20 . 8/7/2016 This is one of the best Severus/Lily fanfictions I've ever read, better than mine, better than...everything! I read it before but forgot and stumbled upon it again because of the 'Marauders smut' topic on Reddit (which I normally never visit, only the HPfanfiction part). It's the details that really make this story, from the descriptions like "his winter coat flapped in the summer breeze" the car of Severus's dad, Lily's history with magic and her saying "Look Tuney my baby can fly", the apothecary they want to open together (which is a nice contrast with the confined family life she'll get with James, the interactions between the Slytherins, the charismatic character of Tom Riddle, the excellent side characters and the teenage hormones you described perfectly. The characters of Severus and Lily, as well as the others, are developed very well and their different milieus and flaws are exaggerated in a funny way. There were things that I'd never had as my headcanon (Lily and Severus having a relationship, Severus having a sister, Rosier being a girl) but you described it so well that I started to buy it, also because of all the extra details that I'd never imagined, but just seem so true. Your are a really talented writer, I'm jealous of your skills! |
excessivelyperky chapter 20 . 8/15/2015 Ah, class rears it ugly head-both in the Muggle world, where Snape ranks pretty low, and in the Wizarding one, where he stands a chance of moving up. It's pretty clear that Lily may have to make an effort if she does want to keep Severus at her side, but pretty obviously she won't bother. And I wish my children would have cleaned the house and baked when they were trying to hide stuff from *me*. Please do continue this story |
Thesa chapter 20 . 8/27/2014 I really like your fanfic. You seem to understand all of your characters so well and it's really well written, too. I hope you update. |
excessivelyperky chapter 19 . 8/4/2014 Oh sh*t. Shakes head, this is obviously not going to end well... But it won't make Petunia look good if she has to admit that Lily and Sev had sex in the bedroom while she slept and ignored them, either. I suggest a deal will be made. And I still think someone ought to call the cops on Snape's dad-all those bruises and scars didn't get there by themselves. But of course nobody will. I do hope Lily thinks about contraception somewhere along the line, hopefully before she starts puking every morning...it's clear that Sev isn't thinking at all. |
excessivelyperky chapter 18 . 6/14/2014 Oh, dear. Trouble in paradise, such as it is. I think Snape would have an easier time with his friends if he told them about snogging Lily than Lily would with hers, actually. Both of them keep dancing back and forth between hiding their feelings and being truthful. And Sev doesn't make it better by being a teenage guy around other teenage guys, either (most of whom are really pretty gross even when they're not DE wannabes). The problem is that Lily is going to think they're gross because they're Slytherins, when actually they are gross because they are teenage guys. The problem comes when the Gryffindor boys act the same, and she has to figure out why they're ok and the Slytherins are not. And the more that Lily lies, the more likely she is to make those lies come true. Snape has perfectly good reasons not to see his parents and to prefer Malfoy's house, and she probably knows it, but she's getting into canon mode-telling him that everything he does is wrong-and being surprised that he doesn't jump her physically. Um... The sad part is that canon! Lily and canon! James really deserved each other (and that Sev deserved better). Mary's Tarot reading is all too true. Bleah. I had hoped you were going to make this AU, but it doesn't look like it, unfortunately. |
excessivelyperky chapter 17 . 5/30/2014 Oh, this is hilarious and heartbreaking all at the same time. It's pretty obvious that Snape didn't make Prefect because he's a half blood, and Rosier did because he's a pureblood. Lily doesn't want to Sev to deny her at the same time she's denying him, and vice versa. And I'm afraid that being left two inches from heaven is going to be the story of Snape's life, while the Marauders continue to march and tease with total invulnerability and glory. But they need to be careful in making fun of Snape's um, attributes. Stories like that get around, and some girls might be interested to find out for themselves. Which, of course, will embarrass Snape and make Lily angry...at him. |
excessivelyperky chapter 16 . 5/5/2014 Another brilliant chapter. And of course Lily hates being called on it when it's pretty clear she *doesn't* want to be seen with Snape - a foretaste of rejection to come, probably. Somehow, anything that Severus says is wrong, though so far that's also true of James Potter. James is still holding rescuing Snape over him, though with Lily not believing in the werewolf story, or wanting Severus to go on about it (even though he's trying to protect her), it's not a pleasant scene. It must be nice to be Potter and be immune from any staff trying to interfere. And you also foreshadow the lake incident, with James goading Snape into saying things Lily really doesn't like by taunting him with Lily 'rescuing' him all the time. Well, considering that the staff would pay attention if he hexed Lily, and not so much when he and his friends have fun with Snape, he does have a point. But notice that Lily only talks to James-doesn't she have a wand? Hermione was already slapping Draco at this point. Riddle's party was quite scary. Surprised he's using the name Riddle, though; someone with access to Hogwarts records could find out quite a bit about him through that name. And Sluggy's presence there doesn't help much, since it gives the appearance of school sanction for Riddle's little lecture. But Riddle has a point-so far, all the households have been thrilled, or at least resigned, to having a magical child. However, I'm sure that in Hogwarts' history there *have* been places where a child is at risk for having magic (cough Harry cough cough, same for Snape. But of course it was bad when Harry was persecuted, and just fine when it happened to Snape, alas). But some households are even worse than the Dursleys or Tobias Snape. |
excessivelyperky chapter 15 . 4/14/2014 Lily is annoyed by James behaving so much in love with her publicly. But she wants to keep anything she does with Severus a secret, and then she's annoyed because he doesn't always pay total attention to her (even thought it seems that she barely pays attention to him). And she won't believe him about a werewolf, but she'll believe anything the charming Marauders tell her. And at the end she snogs him some, and throws him a bone that ok, maybe she really does fancy him-but I suspect she'll still shun him in public. But Lily is all too aware that everybody *does* fancy her. One suspects she'll end up with James as her trophy boy-toy and Snape for in secret, thus getting the best of both worlds. Lucky Lily! |
excessivelyperky chapter 14 . 3/31/2014 Everyone is interested if Bellatrix is going to attend a function or not, if only so they can set up their Shield Charms in advance (and we're talking the other Slytherins). But Lily and Sev don't have a chance-he wants to be more than her doormat, and she's ashamed of liking him. But then, he's a lower social class (though not at Hogwarts, and she doesn't like that part if she ever thinks of it), and so naturally she's lowering herself to be with him, sigh. And how dare he hang around with his fellow Slytherins! Even though Mary is fooling around with Mulciber, it's wrong of her friend to hang with him. Um...yeah, right. And now James Potter is going after the one girl who seems to hate him, but who is probably going to be all right with him being a bully anyway. If Lily treated Sev as nicely as Tom Riddle did...but alas, that is never going to be. |
excessivelyperky chapter 13 . 3/22/2014 Oh, they are such...teenagers. Full of hormones and letting their brains fall out all over the place. Sev is really better out of Spinners End (especially since they didn't have any food there anyway), but it sucks that he has to go hungry. Too bad nobody is ever going to care about his problems except the bad guys, huh? And I'm sure the jolly Marauders will have fun teasing Snape about his dad all the next year. As for Lily, she needs to make up her mind, though right now she doesn't have one (*see* hormones, brains falling out, etc.). I am glad to hear this is going to be AU, at least somewhat-if I want to read canon and how wonderful the Glorious Marauders were, I have the books. |
excessivelyperky chapter 12 . 2/7/2014 Very good chapter. Snape get beaten up in front of the Headmaster and all Sirius gets is 'boys will be boys'. And even the Slytherins make fun of Snape (something they'll probably regret some day when it's their turn to lose at Crucio Roulette, but that's long off, alas). Lily, of course, is the Perfect Princess (except when she's playing Azkaban, which I'm sure her parents would not enjoy learning about). And James Potter at least pretends to be concerned, once, though since we know he moves on to 'because he exists', well, maybe he just spotted the Headmaster coming when the others didn't. Snape is quite right, though; if he doesn't have Lily, he doesn't have anything. Even Sluggy has spotted his social class and is probably appalled. When he goes home, there isn't likely to be anyone there at all, given the rate that Eileen is self-terminating. And won't he learn even more lovely habits having to live with his sister? |
excessivelyperky chapter 11 . 1/5/2014 Oh, my. I remember when my daughter was this age and pulled stuff like this (most of which I mercifully did not know about). If I were Lily's parents, I'd be up in arms, too. And what a horrific background for Eileen; and how cruel of her friends, too. While Severus is clearly in the midst of puberty, it's pretty clear that Lily is playing with fire of her own. Although if she doesn't like the way he looks, why doesn't she play Ken doll with him? |
excessivelyperky chapter 10 . 11/29/2013 Wow! Very interesting sister, too. You have to wonder who Tobias is shacked up with now, though not in a way that anyone really cares about (except maybe to warn people about him). And...she shows what his future is likely to be if he wasn't a wizard. Hogwarts is his way out. Lily ought to bring some of her ideas into the WW, which by what I see in canon desperately needs them. Plus, it's just as well that Lily's dad doesn't know what they've been up to, though I bet he can guess from when he was a teenager. |
excessivelyperky chapter 9 . 11/6/2013 Glad I'm not a teenager any more-ok, I have senior moments now, but not like this! And so Sev has an older sister.. And all the kids at Hogwarts have gone mad with hormones, magic, and too much pureblood doctrine, I swear. In fact, a normal school (my husband teaches chemistry). |
