Well, read this again tonight. Liked even better than the first time, or the second time. Really enjoyed the visuals you painted with words, especially in Ch 28, when Ennis & jack lay in the filed of hay. Lots of meaning underneath those words. And the incident with Tom, and how later Ennis realized that it probably was best that Jack hadn't fought back; if he had, maybe he would not have lived, and then they both would have died. Shade of OS, passing before his mind's eye.

This is such a neat idea! It's amazing how you pulled together all those fables/etc into one story. And I don't think it's too far-fetched. I really love chapter 4-it seems to fit the most seamlessly into both the fairy tale and the original story/movie.
