earthdragon chapter 2 . 2/20/2017 This was very good. It is the first story I have read where homosexuality is not casually accepted by all, but is actually frowned on. That Haldir is neither respected nor considered worthy of promotion simply because he prefers the company of males, despite his obvious skill and experience in battle, reflects what happens in the real world. Thranduil's disapproval of Legolas's sexual preference, is also realistic. Although he loves his son, the fact that Legolas will never marry and produce an heir must be hugely disappointing. Unfortunately, Thranduil's anger will simply push his son away from him, especially if he still feels hostile when Legolas visits the Greenwood. Surely this is not the end though. Will Haldir accompany Legolas and Gimli on their adventures, before settling in Ithilien to forge a new life - since he clearly has no future in Lothlorien. This cries out for either a sequel or more chapters. |
WhistlingWolf chapter 1 . 6/7/2016 Lovely 3 |

byng.stephanie chapter 2 . 10/14/2013 As much as I love a good fight scene, I must admit that it was the 2nd chapter of your story that captured my imagination. It is the nuances of character, and your gentle narrative guidance that helps these characters feel substantive. One of my favorite scenes was the one in which you introduced Rumil. The good natured chiding between siblings was relatable, and that sensation of feeling like you intruded on some underlying conversation is one I have definitely experienced before. (What the valley girls would refer to as "awkward!") I think what draws me in to Haldir's character is that juxtaposition between warrior strength and shyness - the tough "teddy bear." As I pictured him staring at the birch boat, I knew exactly what you meant when you said he seemed wholly absorbed in examining it, yet you knew for a fact he was holding his breath waiting for Legolas' answer to Rumil's invitation. Your description of their first lovemaking was refreshing, as it wasn't written in the the typical "throbbing member" style that I am so used to in historical romance novels. Your reference back to the burning of green branches was a nice touch, and I had an funny a-ha moment when I realized what you were alluding to. I also appreciated the allusion to the sea. Many have done this before, describing orgasms as being waves breaking against the shore, but the salt, sweat and mariners made the experience wholly masculine. I also got a sense of danger and desperation in their lovemaking - of the sort that only weathered fishermen know (The Perfect Storm). Overall, an intriguing beginning to what I could see being an epic and tragic love story. |
HelloRoxy chapter 2 . 9/14/2013 This was beautifully written :) |

bella526 chapter 2 . 12/19/2011 Wow, I don't know why there are so few reviews-this was fantastic! The high quality of writing was also a pleasant surprise. I thought you captured the fear, the shame, and the hope of Leg & Hal really well. You told a great story that completely captured me for these few moments, so thank you. Great job! *_* |
SerenadeMutt chapter 2 . 10/4/2011 how beautiful 3 you captured everything so well, you really did...i don't even know what to say! most slash fics with legolas being the central character end up with him being completely out of character, and the story itself loosing the whole lord of the rings aspect...this did neither, it was perfect :) |
spot-on chapter 2 . 9/8/2011 So pleased you are writng again. Really enjoyed. Thank you. |
