I think Montgomery should be dressing Beckett down... for not having backup before going into that building in the first place. Once Castle was injured her duty should have been to make sure he wasn't dying or making his injury worse, but just the two of them going into that building without waiting for backup is a rookie mistake even if Castle had been a fully trained cop too. They needed more people to secure the building.

And furthermore, isn't Montgomery supposed to be Castle's friend before the series even started?

Discovering the Castleverse late and finding so much talent and joy in reading now the series is long gone. This story had me hooked from the beginning and I intend to keep working my way through your stories. I loved this so much. This has to be the best fan fiction I have read so far (it's the first of yours I believe so that may change soon if you always write like this). I'm so glad you didn't just centre it around Castle and Beckett. I loved how you included all of the characters. This could be an actual episode and I love how you wrote it. Honestly, so amazing. Read the whole thing in one night, a little sleep deprived but definitely no regrets. You're honestly such an amazing writer and I 'fangirled' more times than I wish to admit. Also, I love how you added in the short Once Upon a Time scene, I love that show.

This story is great and all, but this S3 Kate Beckett (guesstimating), she's acting more like S1 Beckett on steroids.
