Ah, I absolutely adore this story and continue to come back to it! Story and smut come together so nicely here, and I your version of a human Sebastian is such an interesting tease, knowing what comes at the end. This duo is written perfectly within this scenario, it's only a shame that it couldn't be real.

depressing ending

This story was posted quite a while ago (so it's likely you may never see this review) but I'm so impressed I'm going to comment anyway. Ahh this story is so beautiful! Your writing s amazing and you have captured Ciel and Sebastian's (as well as literally every else's) characters so well. I was hooked on the premise throughout this story right till the end; I wish it had been longer! I really love the relationship you portrayed between Ciel and his parents, you could really sense the emotions so strongly. Also the ending was perfect, I'm not 100% sure what you were suggesting but I like the parallels between real life Ciel and idealistic world Ciel; on terms of sebaciel and how well it worked out in each world. Truly this has to be one of the best fanfictions I've ever read, it's just so well written-really outstanding work! Xx you deserve many more reviews than you recorded!

The end almost had me in tears - though not because of the sadness of it (that would be rare enough as it is) but simply because this whole story is so very brilliant. Really, I'm quite speechless at the moment.

I don't even know where to start with my review...

First of all, one of the things that make this story so great in my opinion is the basic concept of it: It is like an AU fic perfectly merged with a non-AU fic, something I've never seen before.
(I suppose I've seen fics where, dunno, the characters travel through dimensions or something, but then it's always an entire group or at least the pair the story revolves around; in this, the sharp contrast between canon and AU is established *within* the pair itself by having a human!Sebastian alongside a Ciel of the demonic canon)

Then, I love how you were able to make the two transitions between the worlds, once through the first many chapters and then in chapter 9/10.
It might have something to do with a fanfiction reader's familiarity to AU fics, but I can tell that, exactly like Ciel, the reader is truly *lured* into this new reality. Slowly, until one eventually stops thinking about what actually used to be and accepts this "happy" reality as being real - like Ciel does.
And likewise, just like Ciel, one gets that very sobered-up feeling once he finds himself back in the reality he discarded.

I didn't expect the ending, I have to admit. Perhaps I'm spoiled by mushy or dramatic endings, but I didn't anticipate this cheerless somberness at all. Because for sure, it would have been much "sadder" to have Sebastian demonically indifferent towards him after Ciel had realised his feelings for Sebastian, but to have Ciel find out that... he doesn't feel anything at all for Sebastian... it adds a whole other level of tragedy to it.

Ah, to mention this too, your style is incredibly elegant; I really noticed this when there are these two paragraphs about Ciel's birthday in which you *effectively* describe how Ciel first sleeps with Elizabeth and the evening after with Sebastian, but you put it in such as elegant way... Awesome.

One question though: was the explanation of what actually occurred while Ciel was having that dream *supposed* to be hasty and somewhat nonsensical? I'm just wondering because it seemed a little out of place to me, but I figure it might have been purposefully done by you, since it does emphasise Ciel's feeling of "Did I *really* let go of my mind and heart over something so *stupid*?"

Anyway, I really, really love this story. I do believe in Sebastian/Ciel, meaning I don't agree that neither Sebastian nor Ciel would feel anything, but despite this, this fanfiction is so amazing that I am putting it to my favourites (which I honestly only do with fics that I find truly perfect).

Omg, this was seriously like the best fic. I actually really like slightly melancholy and more realistic endings, and let's face it, this was very realistic, I think. Also this story literally had me pacing and yelling at it for a while there, which is a VERY good thing lol. Just, everything you write, jesus, it's so beautiful! :')

Oh... what a perfect story. I'm crying so much right now and my chest hurts. The plot is perfect and different and I agree with you about the end completely (it was a bummer but fitted perfectly with the story. I think you couldn't have ended it better than how you did). It's a really well written story and just so original. You should be proud of your work because it's good. Really good indeed...
