Reviews for Shifting of the Plate
FenyxEmber chapter 6 . 9/30/2019
I really hope the Aurors just leave that stupid couple as they are. Even though I know doing so wouldn't be a good idea due to what the Muggles would think. For the social worker to come back to that would be completely devastating. On the bright side, Harry won't be considered a fugitive in the eyes of the Muggles. Merely a runaway. Again. But oh well!

I do love his little snake companions. I'd been wondering just HOW he would meet this Dark Pureblooded father of his, and I am so thrown for a loop at this! Rabastan Lestrange?! THAT'S who's going to be raising him from here on out?! You're giving me all tons of whiplash but I love it!

FenyxEmber chapter 5 . 9/30/2019
Fucking hell, I hate this new family. And I use the word family very loosely in regards to them. Just how insecure, beaten down, and insignificant is that mean that he has to beat submission into CHILDREN? That's so wrong. I really, seriously despise these new people. Not that I liked many besides Charlotte.

As for that religious nutjob, I hate that I was right about how the situation would end there. However, it's never going to end up well in a religious home for any Harry Potter character. At least they didn't try to go for an exorcism.

I really do love this story, though, even if you have managed to make me cry a few times. My husband had just been giving me this resigned look the whole time I've been reading. He's used to me crying, yelling, and hissing when I'm reading!

FenyxEmber chapter 4 . 9/30/2019
I so hate that I was right, but I so saw it coming. Magic and religion don't mix all to well, especially in a world like Harry Potter's. They just don't. Hell, they hardly mix very well in real life. We just need to look at the Salem Witch Trials for us to know that. I'm surprised they even kept him after that, but I'm sure they won't for much longer. Especially if there is another magical incident. Or WORSE, if they keep him until his Hogwarts letter. They're definitely not going to like that, and they're not the sort of people I'd want knowing about the wizarding world.

FenyxEmber chapter 3 . 9/30/2019
That's such a horrific thing for anyone to go through, and a CHILD no less! All I can think about is how Harry will beat himself up about it in the future, when he finally realizes just what it was happening beyond that wall. He couldn't have done much about it then, but I'm sure it won't stop him from feeling guilty. As much as I hate how badly everything seems to be going I sort of feel it fits. Harry Potter is a boy who has been dealt multiple tragedies. It's depressing but it sort of comes with him at the same time.

As for this new family, well, I don't have high hopes. A RELIGIOUS family took in a WIZARD. I doubt they're going to be too welcoming of any accidental magic he might do. I really hope they don't try to go through with an exorcism or something. I mean, they seem like good people and all, but I'm not holding my breath when faced with magic. Humans generally fear what they don't understand.

FenyxEmber chapter 2 . 9/30/2019
I really do love this. Not many people would go through the trouble of showcasing the different families he would live with. It would usually be told in small snippets or flashbacks. I do wonder exactly what family he ends up with in the end, especially considering the synopsis of the story. Just whose son is he believed to be? And what sort of impact will it have on his future?

I'm so excited to see how the magical world will take to him, especially if he's the supposed son of a lost Dark Pureblood. And just how will he change? He seems so innocent now, but I wonder if his experiences in foster care will alter him. Just what else will he live through before getting his Hogwarts letter?

FenyxEmber chapter 1 . 9/30/2019
Holy wow!

I have NEVER read a story with this kind of Pettigrew in it. I was a little apprehensive when my friend recommended it, but I'm so glad I decided to give it a try! This is a fascinating and unique twist to what happened that famed Halloween night.

Everyone knows how selfish and conniving Pettigrew can be, canon already shows that, but you just made him all the more unlikeable and I LOVE that! I really can't wait to see what you'll do with this! I want to see his reaction to Harry, I want to know just what lengths he'll go to in order to keep his secret. And VOLDEMORT! I would love to see his reaction when he learns the world believes PETTIGREW of all people defeated him. Now, THAT'S gotta be offensive, and I think Pettigrew is so gonna be in for it!

Oh my God. Oh my God. I was desperately hoping he'd let go of the letter at the very last second you know. Just, run away and leave it all behind.
But alas, he didn't.
Your story is heart-wrenching in how realistic it can be and so darn well-written! Very creative as well, and the characterization. Brilliant, all of it.
My one regret is that it very clearly is incomplete and most certainly abandoned. Oh well. I just hope you kept writing, you certainly have a talent for it!
Danneyland chapter 10 . 10/28/2018
"Sorry, Father," Draco said almost immediately, pocketing his wand. Flint and the other boys did so less quickly, but their wants were put away just the same. "He doesn't know his place."

Danneyland chapter 9 . 10/28/2018
Chapter 8 continued:
"It was an analogue clock, a testimony to her being Muggleborn, though it did not inspire the sneer in Harry that it should have."

Shouldn't analogue clocks be more attuned to the wizarding world than the muggle? If anything, muggleborns would use digital, and wizards would use the old-fashioned analogue... Rather like Mrs Weasley's family clock.

Also I think you said "shows" instead of "shoes" either in this chapter or the last one (aka the 7th or 8th chapter).
Danneyland chapter 8 . 10/28/2018
"Meditation," Harry answered, glad that he had gotten something write after his failure at the last question. He hadn't even thought about looking on the inside of the cover page.

Danneyland chapter 7 . 10/28/2018
"He had been raised in a Muggle Orphanage after his mother had died giving birth to him, and had apparently taken after his mother in looks, if the photo of Merope attached to one of the pages was anything to go by."

Unless you've changed it from canon, I think he should rather not look like Merope.
FearThePuggles chapter 11 . 3/26/2017
Harry's life was so awful. Please, let Harry be happy at Hogwarts? Even if it is just a little?
MdltM chapter 11 . 9/3/2016
I wish you'd update this, the way you wrote Harry's pre-hogwarts years really raised my hopes up. the OCs were nicely done, but the true test wouldve been your characterization of the canon characters.
MdltM chapter 11 . 9/3/2016
I'm guessing the Dark Lord would find no reason to dig through Rabastan's mind, if Harry's cover isn't going to be blown? Just a squib, right? Unless one of the Death Eaters would search for more on the teenager son of a squib who suddenly has their lord's attention and quite effectively duped their offspring...
Perhaps this would only be a concern if Harry becomes well-known in their circle? Cant believe you haven't updated in so long, though. Right after his sorting, too! Sad you stopped, hoping you're alright (and able to continue if you ever want to sometime i the future), though.
The Reeder chapter 11 . 5/4/2016
Please tell me you are just taking a very long hiatus and are not abandoning this story, or that you have been greviously injured in anyway. I absolutely love this story. I am hoping against all hope that you see this and continue with this wonderful story.
Thank you for your time and effort put into this story,
The Reeder
