You should update!

Just found this story and I'm really loving the scenario and the beautiful way you pain the atmosphere here. I'm realising that you haven't updated in a long time, though. Have you abandoned this fic? It would be such a shame if you had! :(

I found (find?) the show analysis parts of this story fascinating, but I think I was the most taken by your original plot: a damaged Matthew and Mary - literally and figuratively wasting away (by disability or heartbreak) - back at Downton where it all began. But in a great twist on what we believe about S2, Lavinia is there, but isn't *there* and it thus becomes an infinitely more tempting scenario. :) Beautiful imagery...you paint such a picture with your words, as well. :D

Another really interesting and atmospheric chapter, teasing the reader about the context. I hope they do get to speak to each other soon!

Another beautiful chapter. I loved Mary's thoughts of their history, especially of that handshake in the library when he wavered slightly from his usual sure and forthright self. You've added even more depth to all their encounters and what I love most is how much their friendship means to each of them, that it's not just lust but something deeper. And I'm very intrigued by the occasion and how each will react to the meeting. Hope you're updating soon!

Gorgeous chapter! I love your descriptions of that "magical night." I love that Matthew is fair in his reflections, able to realize that he loves Mary for the entire package which cannot be separated from her background of wealth and privilege and that Lavinia, representing the other option, can never satisfy him fully. So wonderful all around!

This is simply gorgeous. I love the idea that Matthew *wanted* to give her the lifestyle she was used to, that he regrets trying to make her fit convention.. It's just beautiful, and so poignant!
