This was great! Like, I don't ship Faquarl and Bartimaeus, but you would totally make me want to. I like the idea of the spirit-sex thing because of the Other Place and it makes you wonder how many times Bart did that with Queezle. :)
Also, this is so amazingly well written. The first few paragraphs made me actually believe I was reading the Ring of Solomon. Your writing is so perfect and totally mirrors Jonathan Strouds. I can't say I know the same for your sex scenes, because he never wrote that. (So unfortunate! I was hoping for at least one Bart and Ptolemy flashback with some action.)
Anyway, the ending was beautiful and literally made my soul hurt. The third book was so sad and I've gotten to the fangirl point where I literally can't read one sentence without crying. The whole end where Faquarl was defined by his hatred thing was so sad I hate those magicians but they weren't all bad...uh oh I'm getting teary whatever.
I loved this fanfiction despite (or perhaps because of?) my soul-ache, so wonderful work.

I loved the pseudo-sex-spirit-thingie! I loved how you described their camaderie/hate feelings towards one another and how even with all of that happening they can find a way to help each other and to make their essence hurt less.

very nicely done. You concentrated on a side of Faquarl I've only been able to see briefly, and gave it new depth. I was also really surprised at how strong the uh... sex scene was. It wasn't just parts getting put together with a thin layer of "emotional" content on top to pass it off. It was interesting and new and it made sense and yeah, it was emotional. But you shouldn't use "but" to start a sentence.
