As promised, a longer review:

17 years, Tanathir. 17 years ago you started writing “Conversations With Smith”.

It is one of my most favourite Agent Smith stories, a remarkable piece of work, a story that I keep rereading every 3rd year or so.

Indeed you made an impression, Tanathir.

You keep Smith in character thoughout the entire story. Smith is not in love, as you wrote, Smith wants to experience the whole variety of feelings - the whole spectrum of decadence and lust and passion and sex - before the Mainframe will rip him apart and defragment him and erase it all.

Gemini is fallling for him, knowing well that she will lose him soon.

The dynamics of the story are good, and yet it become a bit trivial. I love cake. But when you eat cake for the whole week, you will get tired of cake. The same with Smith and Gemini interaction. Hot, steamy sex becomes trivial...

I would love to see those two be separated for a while. Perhaps even Smith returning back to the Mainframe, getting a defragmentation, forgetting the whole thing - and one day, one day he will start remembering Gemini. And Gemini still carrying a piece of Smith’s code inside of her. And we also know that every piece of code seeks its rightful home.

The story needs a sequel, Tanathir, you need to make it more difficult for these two, they need to fight for their romance.

You started out great and now you have a good foundation for a great long multi-chapter sequel. It’s time to shake things up a bit and bring in some new dynamics.

Perhaps now, after 17 years, you will start writing a sequel. I hope you will, Tanathir, since you have a great writing talent. And those loyal fans, who were there 17 years ago, they are still here, Tanathir, waiting for you.

I've started reading your amazing story since 2002. I come back to in once every second year and read it again. And again. Smith is my all time favorite character, and in my humble opinion, you have portrayed him beautifully. He stays in character thoughout the whole story. It's so amazing and well done.

I will get back soon with a longer review. Some parts of your story are great, some need a bit of improvement. And someone needs to write a sequel to your beautiful story.

I've read the whole thing and felt the need to review it - with all honesty and criticism. I've found this fanfic after reading another one, where someone was referring to this one. Then I eneterd search by the numer of reviews (by the way - search engine for sucks) and this story popped out. All the reviews I had time to read were postitive and fairly so - the story captures attention from the very beginning, introduces "Watchers" without sounding like a textbook, subtly, without excess, just eanough you need to know, naturally. I devoured chapter by chapter completely captivated by the great story flow, tension and superb character development. Your potreyal of Smith is spot-on - even though he starts to care for the human, he still in the back of his mind considers this an assigment and tries to analyze the situation to extrapolate some ways to manipulate mankind. There is no affection for him, ther is cause, effect, manipulation, need, satisfaction, reapeat. He is possesive, psychotic, dangerous, obsessive, jelaous - not a man you would like to meet in real life, some kind of warped image of evolving slave-warden of digital world.

Gemini has issues. Let's leave it at that.

Chapter 22 is where it all went to sh*t for me. You mentioned it all took just 9 days. What kind of desperate stalkery mind-degenerated person you would have to be to claim that in that time you fell in love with someone - as Gemini claims. Earlier it was blurry, non-descriptive. Smith watched her sleep AGAIN, she woke up, it was not said explicidly how much time has passed, thus making story more beliveable, mind would fill in the blanks and everyone could see this story happening in the span of couple weeks to couple months. I also noticed that since that chapter writing got gradually worse and worse. Story didn't flow that fluently (chapter where Gemini prepared herself to go to the club was all over the place) Author tried to include some plot hook, but those did not take, it seemed artificial and awkward. Incidentally that is the moment where sex appeared in quantities way exceeding need for it. Every chapter has become just a lame excuse for the sex scene - somehow reminds me of a cominc I saw online called "the plot of porn" - couple stupid scenes like "my hamster just died" leading to sex. And we all know nobody watches porn for plot, and no porn was ever noticeable for it's deep an complex plotline.

Knowing a little bit about psychology and sexuology I must say, that Geminis sex drive is waaaaay off. She is satisfied, and yet less than couple hours later she gets excited by mere voice/scent/eyebrow movement of Smith. It's harder for a woman to get excited after she got satissfied, furthermore it's harder for a woman to even come after that - and yet she fornicates more frequently than rabbits in heat. Her sex drive is closer to hormonal male near the age of 17 than woman in her 30-ties. If you need an example - try rubbing your hand - at first it's kinda warm and nice, but after a while it irritates you and after some time it feels like sandpaper against your skin. It doesn't really work like that because for sex you need to multiply it by more planes - not only physical but also mental and hormonal. Combined with a decline in quality of writing since chapter 22 it all looks like poorly written fetish projection through fanfiction than belivealbe story.

To better illustrate my point - when I started reading I was in awe and was thinking I would print this, bind it in black cover and put it on my shelf as a book. When I was nearly finished I was asking myself "why bother even readin it till the end". My OCD forced me to finisz just to learn it actually isn't finished.

Maybe better this way. You just put it out of it's misery.

500 reviews - and you still won't update this incredible fanfic of yours. Your loyal fans are in tears.

By now, i have been re-reading your fic for the 7th time. Maybe 8th. Or 9th. I've lost count. Words cannot describe how amazing it it. How perfectly you characterize Smith. How subtle and elegant his transition is. How powerful and yet vulnerable he is. How great his development is. And how, goddammit, yes, erotic he is. Even when Smith is not doing anything erotic, well, you manage to write his mere presence being erotic.

Please update. Some 500 of your fans and myself are demanding it.

This fic has a great potential for a sequel:

Imagine Smith returned to the Mainframe. Mindfu*ed and rebooted. Forgetting Gemini. Forgetting it all.

And yet.

A part of him is still inside of her. She cannot be reinserted. She will have to find him, to make him remember. Will she be able to do it? Without Smith shooting her first? Will he able to remember?

Dammit, this fic must go on!

If you are not up for writing anymore: Can someone else here take on the job? This fic is just too good to be lost and forgotten.

I was wondering if you are still out there and reflect at times the sorrow you have brought to the life of your readers. HOW CAN YOU DO SUCH A THING? WHY CANT YOU UPDATE? please please please please i am begging you to update. It is unnecessary for me to mention the perfect characterisation of Smith and the brilliant yet thoughtful voice you have give Gemini. Also it would be unnecessary for me to mention that you have created a rare and perhaps unique version of what love is and all its tiny implications. The fact is, is that your story is BELIEVABLE. And if for some unknown reason you think no one is reading the letters that you have typed you are wrong my friend, I am reading, along with a good 500 people, so please please update. WE LOVE YOU.

P.S. I will basically stalk you from now on until you update a story that has been on hiatus since 2007 (which I originally thought, hey three years not too bad but its been 7 BLOODY YEARS MAN)

Is it meaningless to go down on me knees and physically beg for an update now? Because...that was an amazing story. Perfectly in character, brilliantly detailed and thought-out, and Circuit's occasional added thoughts really stood out to me. All in all, it was fantastic.
I could go on in this fashion for hours, but there's really no point, since it's been six years since this story was touched. I just thought you might like to know how much I liked it.
And I will be adding it to my alerts, just in case...

Awww, I wish you'd finish this story! This is the best Agent Smith story on the site, so I'm definitely hoping that it's completed! So I guess what I'm saying is, if you get the urge to write sometime soon, you have a ready and waiting audience! )
