I actually liked the way Naruto reacted in the manga - a ton of people die and he releases maybe four tails at most for someone, and then he thinks Hinata is dead and he's completely prepared to release all nine.

Anyways, this was so cute, "I think you told me something important when you protected me from Pain... but I can't remember what it was!"

However, it doesn't seem like he would be in love with her if he didn't even know what she said. 'Cause didn't he always just kind of think of her as "that weird girl".

It seems like it'd take a little longer than five-or-so minutes to come to the conclusion that he loved her too. Like, if he had the time to think about it, then he'd probably see that she's way more than just that weird girl...

(of course that's just me, I don't really know how Naruto works, and I suppose he already loves everyone so it'd only take a few minutes to decide he was /in/ love with someone. *shruggs*)
