it was angst like whoa, but it was also very raw, and very realistic. i think the way you portrayed their romance was gorgeous. and the way you ended the story was absolutely perfect.

Ah, I liked this. I don't think 20 yrs is unheard of. My cousin met her boyfriend at 19 and he was 39. They are still together.
I think the symbolism in this was entrancing and I loved the descriptive qualities. I love how you can describe things so well in your writing that it's like living in the world.
In my happy head canon maybe they'll meet again when Matthew is in grad school and still needs someone mature.:)

I just came up with something for this, hope you don't mind.
What if Arthur began dedicating all his books to Matthew, always with a love note that connected to something they talked about somehow, and eventually Matthew figured out it as him and realized that Arthur loved him the whole time.
Oh god.
