Reviews for Day Tripper
Ceridwyn2 chapter 7 . 9/4/2011
I really enjoyed this story. Well-written and very much in character. You also managed to really capture the characters voices. Great job.
Rambling Scribe chapter 7 . 8/19/2011
I really enjoyed this. Just the right amount of angst mixed with humour. Ruth telling it like it is to Harry on the cliff top was just what they needed.

Loved the old lady and her words of wisdom and cheeky Dimitri at the end. Great stuff. :D

Rambling Scribe chapter 5 . 8/19/2011
Oh, the conversation on the beach was quite heartbreaking but what they needed. And breakfast together was definitely called for.

Harry a writer of erotica...yes, perfect... :P ;)
Rambling Scribe chapter 3 . 8/19/2011
Two things:

'Ageing surfer' - haha! Excellent.

And Harry in flip flops - what an image. ;)
Rambling Scribe chapter 2 . 8/19/2011
Hello. Sorry, I'm way behind...

Love the opening chapter - poor Harry, he's definitely in need of a break. Glad it didn't take long for Ruth to work out where he'd gone.

eggwhisker chapter 7 . 8/2/2011
Loved it! I've been away for a bit but this is just a brilliant end to a great fic. Humour, passionate fluff and clever description all in one. Nice touch with the old lady. All in all just brilliant! Can't wait until your next one. Thanks for sharing.
more-than-words chapter 7 . 7/30/2011
Oh, this is a pefect ending. Love their awkwardness followed by the eagerness to get back to Weymouth. Lovely stuff :)
Sparky75 chapter 7 . 7/29/2011
A wonderful end to a fantastic story!
The Emerald Ink chapter 7 . 7/29/2011
'I'm getting him to deactivate every bloody speed camera between here and Weymouth.'

- HAHAHA!

Oh this whole fic has been WONDERFUL!

Thank you so so much - you're brilliant. xx
Euterpe chapter 7 . 7/29/2011
Hah! Ever practical Ruth - "physical exertion" to release endorphins as a natural pain killer. Good plan! ;-)

The old lady has something of a deus ex machina about her. Very wise words from you through her.

Love Lucas' last line! LOL! That's a great button on the story.
4ruth chapter 7 . 7/29/2011
What a relief! Finally, Harry and Ruth get it on. I thought that it would never happen. I had to laugh at the contrast between the prim ex-Mrs. Pearce who suddenly turned into a sexpot on a beach so many years ago and the supposedly modern Ruth who was not ready to do it outdoors.

Harry made their love look so simple and Ruth, overwhelmed, responded with the clumsy excuse of “It's getting way too hot here and I haven't put on any sunscreen.' Talk about poor timing too: an all-too common female experience which Ruth had to admit to Harry. Nice touch here with Harry:”he wasn't quite as unenlightened and insensitive as he sometimes led people to believe.”

Ruth just needed a little nudge and the wise words of a stranger to encourage her to take the plunge. I like how at the end of the day the emotional reactions of Harry and Ruth were reversed: Harry’s insecurity and Ruth’s decisiveness. Harry’s call to Tariq was hilarious. Ruth’s small predicament was not going to slow down Harry’s drive back to the hotel.

The reaction of the grid to Ruth’s arrival was priceless. I love Dimitri’s cheekiness and Lucas’s s muttering “ 'About bloody time.'”

Thank you for a lovely and uplifting story.
pook chapter 7 . 7/29/2011
Lovely fluffy conclusion to a terrific story. Loved the convo with the wise old lady. And I'm glad that Ruth was brave. Well done. Thanks for sharing.
the classicist chapter 7 . 7/29/2011
Loved this last chapter! Harry's lines were great, especially the Christmas card one, and the "hook, line, sinker and bloody rod." And I love how you've kept him as an utterly old-fashioned man - that sort of thing is very endearing. Loved the epiloguey bit too x
AlbaxX chapter 7 . 7/29/2011
Brilliant last chapter :) good bit of fluff but still in keeping with the rest of the fic :) loved it. xX
nolongerinservice2014 chapter 7 . 7/28/2011
Oh, how absolutely fantastic! I'm madly in love with this chapter! Well, the whole thing, really, but especially this! And Lucas getting the last line - just genius! :) Wonderful, wonderful job.
