I've read this over 3 times and it's still just as amazing as it was at first. It's so heartbreaking but it's very well written and I love that it feels so real. I think it's good that you leave a lot unexplained; that would probably just mess it up. A wonderful one-shot despite the sad theme. Really lovely :)

For the sake of my emotional and actual sanity, I'm convincing myself that road led to the painful ups ad downs of recovery, with the golden glow of light flitting in. Because life is never easy. And the other path was clear and straight, right into the horizon, which I guess means onward to the afterlife.
