tanseynz chapter 13 . 8/11/2016 So much complex thought, imagination, ability, power and effort in this. I wonder why you didn't finish it. |
Grumpy Old Snake chapter 12 . 9/27/2015 Well, I missed the small step of trying to log in. Whoops. |
Grumpy Old Snake chapter 13 . 9/27/2015 Oh, now this is truly spectacular. I'm saddened to find it incomplete and untouched for so long, but truly-thank you for writing as far as you have and sharing it with us. I really appreciate getting the chance to read this far. Phaeton Eta is such an intriguing world, and I love how complete it feels-not in that we see everything, but whole in a way that simply undescores how much we *don't* know. Instead of a mystery caused by absence, the mystery throughout much of the story has felt like it comes from clearly seeing the sharp edges of something while the rest fades into an immense sillhouete in the fog. Which... Gah, I don't know how to convey it. I'll try again. The way you've hinted at things, composed the story and revealed things to the reader: not every new piece of information feels isolated or crafted solely to *be* the next piece of information leading up to something. It truly feels like everything is whole and exists in its own right, that without us as readers being allowed to glimpse each aspect of things it would have existed regardless. And what we do see feels natural, like that which *would* be seen or conveyed, rather than the breadcrumbs of a carefully rationed plot. which just goes to show how much thought truly did go into the story, I suspect. In any case, neither the people we've met nor their world feel defined solely by how they interact with the landing party. The Phaetans are characters in their own right and their world, now I'm aware of it, is a place that I would gladly explore and read about without the crew of the Enterprise's involvement. It's wonderful. (Okay, and painful. Dammit, Daelus, I *liked* you. Whyyy. :( And Epia, why were you bitter even before everything went downhill, what is this harvest, and ghhh I'm so sorry about Daelus but *please don't kill everyone*. D:) ...*cough*. Anyway. That said, you've done a wonderful job at developing Spock and Kirk's story as well. It's engaging and feels quite authentic. I particularly enjoy the way you have portrayed Spock's telepathy and perceptions of his katra, as well as the wider worldbuilding surrounding it-details like the idea of dreamwalkers, the impact of old!Spock's actions, the linguistics and history in this chapter. I like how you've slipped in details about both why and *how* Spock relies more on repression than examination and control of his emotions. I like how Spock and Kirk have danced around each other for much of the story, not even quite *wary* or confrontational or anything but not quite connecting all the same, still missing clear communication in many ways. (I liked deep cave snuggles.) Some aspects felt slightly off at times; there was distance where I wouldn't have expected it, closeness and contact where I couldn't identify the leadup to the moment for all that I could see the "why". For example, Jim hugging Spock after his admission of why he hesitated at the moment he could have saved M'Lee blindsided me a bit. I honestly couldn't quite tell you why, either, unfortunately. But overall-you've done some superb work here. Thank you. |
Muffy the Dough Slayer chapter 13 . 9/5/2013 This has been a wonderful story thus far - why is it not updated D: Please update soon! Thanks for sharing :) |
C-loke chapter 13 . 7/14/2012 I love this story. and I hope you update that it soon. :) |
Guest chapter 13 . 7/6/2012 This is fantastic! More! |
Peaceangel8000 chapter 13 . 6/24/2012 An excellent fic. I do hope you finish it. |
hentai18ancilla chapter 13 . 5/7/2012 What I don't get is how they haven't even caught the other guilty party while Kirk was away in the Dunes and why they are being blamed for something they didn't do when they have telepathy to a limited degree. They keep using threats. I just don't see them doing anything but devolving-and now they ask more from Kirk? If they don't trust him why ask him to fly? |
Exultation of the Gryphon chapter 13 . 3/24/2012 This is a very intersting story and well written. I love the way you are working Spock and Kirk's bond out. I also think the way you had them fly was awesome. So many fic's about space craft and not nearly enough have naything about flying... I look forward to more. |
MissVoiceLess chapter 13 . 2/14/2012 I never, never, would have suspected Sorel! Never. I was utterly bamboozled! But ish so goot, I just luffs it. Happy Valentines by the way. ;) |
moviesaremagic chapter 13 . 1/30/2012 this is incredible! cant wait to read more. (squeals) |
dreamschemer chapter 13 . 1/30/2012 Okay, this chapter made me kinda giddy. I was wondering exactly where this story was going (last chapter has me at a loss), but then you're like BAM! Action Baby! And I've gotta say, it totally rocked. Some scenes, particularly Jim's keeping the Marin on task with the pole that stabbed him, were just badass. And it's cute that Spock's given their bond a name, though he's denying they're thyla? WTF, Spock? I guess it's some type of defense mechanism? Anyways, I'm looking forward to your next chapter! Thanks for the update! |
Miltonway chapter 13 . 1/30/2012 Wow you pack so much into one chapter! I love long chapters and multi-chaptered fics; so I’m not disappointed. Where to begin? It's beautifully written as always. I love how you describe in such vivid detail telepathy, mindscapes and Vulcan culture. You paint it all with so much richness and colour. I’m glad Spock was able to bring Kirk back, and that they’ve basically admitted their feelings for each other. Possessive Spock is awesome too! The last line was great, as was Spock telling Kirk to take his mind out of the gutter. This story’s got humour, plot, feelings, action, adventure and romance, what’s not to love. |
Pen-Name-Kitsune-chan chapter 13 . 1/30/2012 I'm yet again blown away at your ability to write mindscapes and different cultures. I loved your description of the fight, and everything involving prereformation Vulcan. : ) and your description of Vulcan emotionalisms and that k word that I can't spell were beyond amazing. And the last line was just plain hilarious :P Anyways, please update soon ! |
Panja chapter 13 . 1/29/2012 I'm still loving the story. Sorry I can't review for every chapter, I try to read them in bulk since I rarely have free time with my full course load in college and extra curricular activities I have to do. Great last two chapters, your writing is still spot on with characters IC and plot staying original. Sorry I can't be more specific or type a longer review but I'm right back to homework and studying now. Stay sexy. |
