KobeNiku chapter 8 . 3/25/2018
Why must the good stories die young?

This story not only took an unconventional pairing and made it work to a believable degree, it also had some rather good insight into the issue of one's faith. While it is certainly not deeply philosophical, it is quite remarkable to that it is able to explore this topic to such an extent considering that the average work of fanfiction covers only the most shallow of surfaces. As someone who disagrees with the narrow-sighted view of some of the cloth in their fervent insistence on semantic labels, it has resonated with me quite a bit.

The way the characters are fleshed out here certainly helped in its ability to convey such an issue. From the close-to-canon portrayal of Integra and Alucard to the interesting dynamic between Seras and Alexander Anderson. The conversations between one enveloped by shadows but retains the light within her heart and one whose darkness is blinded by the light he sees are not paced properly but they also explore a theme in Hellsing that the canon itself hasn't really explored in depth: the integrity of one's faith when it is shaken. Reading the interactions between Seras and Anderson is almost like watching an episode of Fate/Zero when characters of conflicting ideals challenge each other. I appreciate that you have not gone the route of keeping the intimacy between them grow at a steady pace rather than speed through it as it would be a shame to let such opportunities for character depth go to waste.

The only complaint that I have is that it appears to have been abandoned at a moment where the reader is left expecting more. The pacing of this story is suited for the long haul and having it die here just seems...wrong.

I realise that it would be asking too much for a revival of this story and that life works in mysterious ways. Nonetheless, should you ever return to this, do know that many people, myself included, will be happy for more of this interesting character dynamic which you have created.

TheLavenderHour chapter 7 . 11/25/2016
Might I tell a story?
One day, during a storm, a strong flooding warning was issued, and all people in a man's area were told to evacuate. Everyone did, except for one very religious man.
"God will save me" he told his neighbors as he shut himself into his house when the storm came. No matter how his neighbors protested, he stayed. When the rain began to fall and water crept into the man's house, the last evacuee drove to his house and offered to give him a lift to higher ground. The man refused, saying, "God will save me". The man left.
As the water forced the man to escape upstairs, a man in a boat came and offered to help him escape his flooding house. The religious man refused, saying, "God will save me". The man in the boat, though not without trying to convince him to escape, left.
The water continued to rise, and the man was forced to his roof. A man in a helicopter flew over, and offered to give him a lift to safety. As you probably predicted, the religious man refused, saying, "God will save me". The man in the helicopter left to find more willing survivors.
The religious man drowned. When he died, he came to God in heaven with questions.
"God," he said, "You tell your followers that they will be saved from death by Your will. When my house was flooded and I drowned, you didn't save me. Why didn't you try to save me?"
To this God patiently replied, "I did try to save you. I sent a warning for you to escape, I sent a man in a car to pick you up, I sent a man in a boat to rescue you, and I sent a helicopter as a last resort. You refused their help, and so refused my own. I didn't save you for lack of trying."
Moral of the story: God's gifts come in many forms. Don't judge or you'll end up dead like that idiot.

Lurker chapter 8 . 6/8/2015
Dear CYMK
I know that this story has been abandoned for years. I wish it hadn't been. This has a lovely grip on the characters while being entertaining and very plot driven, sort of. This is one of the best I've read. It helps that I have a soft spot for strange pairings.
kinigget chapter 4 . 2/3/2015
I'm finding that I really enjoy this kind of story. Anderson and Seras are easily the most interesting characters in Hellsing, and their interactions always end up going in fun directions
