mountainweasel27 chapter 18 . 2/24 To me, this fanfic is canon. XD I don't care what anyone else says! Truly a masterpiece! |
GuilmonBread chapter 17 . 7/5/2019 I believe I first read this fic in the July of 2014. It was so important to me, and I see it as having been there for me during one of the most terrible times of my life. Even now, I don't believe I have ever been as obsessed with a series as I am with Soul Eater, and that obsession is rooted in how much I love Maka and Crona. However, this fic gives me what I always felt Soul Eater didn't give me enough of. I wanted to know more about Crona and their struggle. All those years ago, I decided that this was my new favorite book. I reread it multiple times, and for the next couple years I'd go back and reread my favorite scenes. In May, I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Literature. I reread this a couple weeks after graduating. Admittedly, I was apprehensive. I read so many amazing writers and learned to be much more critical of what I was reading. I was afraid that this wouldn't be as good as I remembered. Anyway...I'm now rereading it for the third time since May and have been kicked back into my Soul Eater obsession full force. I think you're a really good writer. I hope that you still write. It's wild to me that this fic is about 8 years old and that this is such an old series. I still really believe that this is the best romance novel I have ever read. I recognize that the fact that I adored these characters before I read the fic helps me to see it that way. However, the way you built their relationship is really well done. I love the way you describe Crona's mental health issues. I think they are realistically described. I know from personal experience that panic attacks really do feel that way. I think one of the reasons I love Crona so much is that the idea of someone having to relearn how to live fascinates me. Crona's such a difficult mindset to get into, because it's impossible for most people to really imagine what it would be like to have been raised in complete isolation or subjected to sensory deprivation torture. I think your fic is the best one I have read that deals with how mentally scarred they would be. I love the way you write their thought processes. On another note, I also love the way you write the rest of the characters. I think they are all very much in character. You also love that you are able to balance some comedy in a fic that contains so much serious emotion. Anyway, I guess I just wanted to say that all these years later, this fanfic is still so important to me. Thank you for writing it. |

A-Friendly-Guest chapter 18 . 2/16/2019 When I first discovered this fic, early on in my fanfic reading days, I considered this story the best thing since sliced bread. It had all my favorite characters from my new favorite anime, and each chapter left me more and more invested in a ship I had only just discovered; to top it off, this was also one of the first Soul Eater fics I ever read to “click” with me, so naturally I viewed this story favorably. Now that I’m older and with a more nuanced sense of writing under my belt, I can admit that (no offense to you or any other writers) this isn’t the perfect be-all end-all of a story I once thought it was; as a matter of fact, it’s only slightly above average when it comes to the majority of fan fiction floating around on the internet. With that said, this will still always be my go-to CroMa fic, for when I’m feeling extra self-indulgent and nostalgic. There’s just a certain blend of fluffiness and angst, the kind that leaves a satisfying taste in a reader’s mouth, which, I think, inspires a certain level of fondness. Best of all perhaps, in between the shenanigans and “teen romance” drama, you write in a certain heart to each moment and each character; you even managed to give Ragnarok some development! Heck, I even like him now! Which makes the development of the other characters, and the surprisingly uplifting ending, all the sweeter. It really gives me the sense that things are looking up for everyone, though they still have long lives ahead of them. It’s because of the aforementioned reasons, and a few others, which allows me to still enjoy this fic after all this time. It’s a guilty pleasure of mine, rereading this and getting some manner of happiness, and I just wanted you to know. Thanks for writing this! |
Lily the Luna chapter 12 . 11/26/2018 He twirled her around again and pulled her into a tight hug. "Chrona," she gasped, breathless and smiling, "what's gotten into you?" "You," he said, pressing the tip of his nose to hers. "I'm in love with you. And I can say it out loud, and I don't have to hide it anymore. I love you, Maka." She stared up at him, green eyes wide, little reflections of him inside them. Then her lips were on his and she was kissing him right there in the middle of the street, her arms around him, and for the first time in his life, he felt…fearless. It felt like he could fly to the moon, if he really wanted. But he wanted to stay right here on the ground, kissing her. _ I think this is my favourite bit of the entire story. it's so fluffy and pure I just get giddy reading it. I fuckin love this story. |
Lily the Luna chapter 10 . 11/24/2018 "I meant it all, you know," he whispered. "Every word." "I know." She looked up at him for a moment, her eyes filled with a tangle of emotions. There were too many to sort out, and there shadows of uncertainty mixed in, but the love shone through, like sunbeams breaking through clouds. Quietly, she left the room. _ this scene. this fucking scene. it's got me so fucked up. Maka's not some indomitable human, incapable of fear; she's scared, same as Crona and it's for this reason that Crona can find the strength to be better, because they can not only try to be like her (their ideal), but they actually can! |
Lily the Luna chapter 8 . 11/22/2018 chapter 8 always makes me cry :'( |
Lily the Luna chapter 3 . 10/30/2018 *daft punk voice* One More Time! it's me, Ren |

TrigunInferno chapter 18 . 1/18/2018 Me: "This is the official canon ending for the anime" Billy: "But what about episode 51 and-" SLAP Me: "SHUT UP BILLY" no offence to anyone named billy i just needed to use a name |
Thursday's Dove chapter 18 . 12/15/2017 This is the first Soul Eater fanfic I have ever read, and I sought it out because of the Chrona/Maka pairing. I simply adore them together. And you know, this fic was so wonderful in so many ways, I think it has spoiled me for anything I read after it. Simply amazing. :3 |
