Reviews for A Mask Hides Nothing
Jerry236 chapter 1 . 7/9/2019
Wow. This is great and yet depressing.
Lilienmoor chapter 1 . 7/12/2014
Wow, that was really intense. I like your writing style, it's very fitting. I never really liked Azula, an it was about time, someone showed her her mistakes. Also I didn't thought Mai, Azula and Ty Lee to be out of character. Mai may seems a bit heartless, but that's not necessarily how she felt, as she was always a master of hiding her true emotions. And albeit they betrayed Azula, they had the best reasins for it. I'm not saying, that what they did in the past, had been good, but they had different intentions then Azula. While she fully supported the war and never seem to felt any remorse whatsoever, Mai simply didn't care enough for anything (but Zuko, that is) and Ty Lee most likely was too naive an lighthearted to fully realize, what her actions caused and always worshipped Azula. Until she realized, Azula didn't care for anyone but herself and would even kill her 'best friend' without regrets. So I never had much pity for her, she never realized that i might have been her own fault she lost Mai an Ty Lee, so it was good, that they opened her eyes. I do think you did a very good Job; the only line that didn't quite fit was, when Ty Lee said, that they weren't able to tell Azula she was wrong, as i don't think Ty Lee fully realized, what she was actually doing, since she never experienced the war as something bad. Because they definitely were able to do so, at least Mai was. I don't think she ever really feared Azula, as she was just fine by not obeying her orders at times, despite knowing what the consequences might be. She knew very well, that Azula needed her. So if she didn't agree with Azula she would have just told her so in the face (as she finally did). That's why I think Ty Lee's argument didn't count. Ok, but I am rambling here. So very well done!
AmurTiger123 chapter 1 . 8/20/2013
ya...I like your style of writing, it's worthy of being published, but could you please write stories NOT with a completely and utterly mentally broken Azula? Considering that 'evil' people are just good people no one treated properly, this story really isn't fair. Still, your writing is amazing!
Tallion chapter 1 . 5/10/2013
Great fic!
I honestly thought Ty Lee being a bit out of character was fine in this case, although Mai was a little bit more heartless than I would've expected.
I have no idea why so many people support Azula.
A shade of grey91 chapter 1 . 7/23/2012
ick, this is everything the makers of avatar would have wanted it to be...
General Maraxus chapter 1 . 1/20/2012
For a moment I thought they would turn back. Awh, why do so many people dislike Azula? She's a lovely person, albeit unstable.
PatientNumber10 chapter 1 . 10/5/2011
For some strange, unexplainable reason I don't like their interaction here. I know I'm not the best when writing these three together, even individually, but I think Mai's too... talkative. And Ty Lee's too... goodie-goodie? Eh, I don't know, something about Ty Lee just doesn't fit. I kind of have an idea why Azula doesn't talk back but maybe we have different ideas. I thought maybe she should have talked back even if it's short, but stinging jibes.

You said you were aiming for a somewhat angsty fic, and it was indeed angsty in the beginning and in the end but during the conversation it wasn't so angsty.

Okay. Now I just want to share some lines that made me wince a bit...

"Azula felt the strings of her dark heart grabbed, yanked, and nearly snapped. With the use of much effort did the princess keep herself from RAVISHING the noblewoman..."

Sorry, but a little perverted thought crept into my mind when I read the word "ravishing" on that sentence (I have a dirty mind some times, in other times though a very ignorant one). If you don't mind me asking, what does ravishing mean on that sentence?

"'Bye, Azula! May the spirits have mercy on you.'" Ty Lee whispered the last sentence, unsure of how strongly she felt for that matter."

I think that exclamation mark there shouldn't be an exclamation mark. It sort of contradicted the whole meaning of the sentence.

Those lines are the one's that kept nagging my brain, so I won't point out others.

But the last paragraph was very nice. Especially the phrase "...and not a single soul on the planet was stirred." Very angsty. It sort of summed up everything.

Questions though... If Mai didn't care what will happen to Azula why was she there in the first place?

I don't consider this as a constructive criticism because I don't think I'm good enough to give people one of those. I'm sorry, though, if you found some of my comments abusive, or just plain flaming, I merely and quite innocently wanted to share my thoughts to you.
Kraken Albatross chapter 1 . 10/3/2011
Well written, but I thought Ty Lee was ridiclously out of character. Even Mai was unnecessarily heartless. Also, it's not like Mai and Ty Lee were secretly good guys the entire time and hated what Azula was doing. Why do they have the right to be so high and mighty?
morbus-rus chapter 1 . 6/28/2011
Damn( I hate this endind. Happy end my ass! I want Azula win!
BlueLion chapter 1 . 6/14/2011
What a heartbreaking closure! But brilliantly written, the tension apparent to the end. Looking forward to read more from you.

This one goes to my favs and into my community.
Frankie Alton chapter 1 . 6/11/2011
A very poignant scene, I actually feel bad for Azula. :(
AvatarRai chapter 1 . 6/11/2011
Wow, ty lee and mai seem really heartless. it makes you feel sorry for azula, first twisted by ozi, never loved by her mother and abandoned by the two people she thought she could rely on - twice.

Very moving story. Keep up the good work!
farty chapter 1 . 6/11/2011
this fic is soooooo awesome. you get 10 out of 10
